The Germans were NOT scared of the Spitfire. The 109 alone had a kill ratio of 1 to 4 against it. Crap video.

11:02 Martin Baker 5 or MB5 similar looking to the Mustang which it precedes; but was never put into production due to limited resources even tho it was an excellent plane. Martin Baker became a leader in ejection seats still made today.

Early days before only Officers and Gentlemen were required. Our village tightened it's belt to save £5,000 to Buy one.

Listening to a lot of veteran interviews the Mark IX was loved the most, it just had that edge.

Nope it was the Mustang because of its high speed, maneuverability and immense range. The spitfire was very short range as was the Me 109

Nov 42 Spitfires had various belly tanks and could go 1200 miles And no P51 could stay with the Spitfire anywhere.

Boring and repetitive, the script sounds like an attempt to use as many words as possible.

'Jericho trumpet', the Nazis' were indeed that kind of diabolical, but I've never heard that term used before, I'm inclined to call bs.

The Spitfire's Name. It was Supermarine's Chairman, Robert McLean, who chose the name Spitfire, after his daughter's nickname. The term "spitfire" dates back to Elizabethan times and was used to describe a young girl with a fiery personality.

let me be clear, i think the spit is one of the best fighters ever made. but of you read the germans who actually fought it, and not the propaganda, they mostly thought it was a one trick pony. it certainly wasnt nightmare fuel for them the AI voice sucks. lose it do your own work no up thumb till then

One trick pony? And what trick would that be? It fought in more Theatres than the US, it even had a sea version. Not the greatest but was there over Japan in Aug 45. Best fighter, best PR , best test plane ,

While the Spitfire got the glory, the Hurricane shot down more enemy aircraft, due to a higher number in service. The Mk IX was generally considered the nicest version.

Quite though the kill to loss ratio goes to the Spitfire. 5.5:1 for the Hurricane and 7.5:1 for the the Spitfire.

The real fact wasn't that the me 262 came late, it was ready for combat as early as 1944,but was handicapped by trying to turn it into a dive bomber and the shortage of fuel, limited it's effectiveness,i doubt it would have made any real difference in the end.
