I think of my dad, Floyd Wayne Craven every day, and I found the tribute to your dad emotional for me. Though I'm a jazz composer on piano, never thought about creating a song in my dad's memory. Today, the music will flow with thoughts and feelings of my dad. Thanks for the inspiration Mr. Sandoval, Jr.

Pure joy. I know where to come next time I need cheering up. Stevie is one of very few composers to equal Bacharach, with the right and the audacity to turn a heartbreaking ballad into a party, with Arturo’s epic trumpet. Burt looks riveted, like ‘what’s he doing with my song’ and he (and everyone) is beaming.

Bellísima melodía para acompañar ese pequeño álbum de fotos de un hombre que tuvo que alcanzar la libertad jugándose la vida en una balsa. También tuvo soportar en su propia patria el desprecio de los tiranos que aún siguen aferrándose a su delirio supuestamente revolucionario. Al menos pudo pasar la última etapa de su vida rodeado de los suyos y sintiendo el orgullo de ver resplandecer a la estrella que engendró. Que Dios le bendiga y que descanse en Paz

Yo soy Cirujano maxilofacial. Natural de Artemisa,tierra donde nació ese gigante de la la ejecución de la trompeta llamado Arturo Sandoval.. Tengo el orgullo de manifestar que formé parte de una agrupación musical artemiseña, cuando Arturito como le decían tenía alrededor de 16 años.Eso fue antes que Matriculara en la Escuela Superior de Arte en la Capital de Cuba. En esa agrupación tocaba Arturito la trompeta prima. Su ejecución era muy admirada por todos los músicos en el grupo. Después que Arturito comenzó en la escuela de arte, y a partir de comenzar el piano complementarlo , adquirió habilidades,que parecía un pianista experimentado. Todos incluyendo mi persona,lo admirabamos y lo sigo admirando. Jocosa mente me llamaba Negro Currutaco, expresión que nunca me he dedicado a averiguar. Tendría muchos testimonios,pero me sé si le llegarán a su conocimiento. Algo que recordará que uno de los profesores de música que le impartió Clases fue Delfín Fleitas a quién le han dedicado un concurso de música. Recordar que un método de música o sea de solfeo que comenzó a estudiar Arturito fue con el Hilarión Eslava. Y para terminar el testimonio que Delfín le entrego el instrumento(La trompeta)cuando le presentó de forma entonada la lección #37 de dicho método. Un saludo para Arturito y su familia. Dr, Arturo, Estoy llorando.... que cancion bella... you really love your mentor and dear friend. I can hear in your music how much you miss him. I am sure he is listening in heaven to this beautiful tribute. I am so glad I heard Dizzy live at Wolf Trap a long time ago.
