What liquid did you pour over the slab as you’re planing it? Also… do you think you could’ve got the job done using a hand planer???? Great stuff! Thanks!

Would have been nice to see a few seconds of glamour shots of the finished product at the end. I clicked the full video and it wasnt there either. Couldve had like 30 seconds or a minute there with closing commentary about the project. Just a thought

You need gorilla sealer tape. I've used it on a bunch of stuff. A friend lost a tooth in his 60s Harley transmission that shot through the case riding back from NC to Ohio. I rode to the next exit thinking I would just tap the roughly 3/8 hole but no luck and we were in the middle of nowhere. The gas station did have Gorilla sealer tape. I got it, a qt of oil and a bottle of alcohol. I washed the case off with the alcohol, slapped the tape on and filled it with oil. It held for over 150 miles before it started to leak a little bit. Total distance ridden on Gorilla sealer tape- 205 miles.

Love the look. Your leak issues remind me of the early days with Cam from Blacktail Studio. Please continue using cool color layers. Some of the Asian tables with a bottom layer of dark blue, followed by lighter blue with pearl water swirls look really intriguing. Use of real gold leaf (artistically applied flecks) and top layers of clear / semi-clear colors could be great too. Maybe experiment with different edge stains and/or partially burned edges would be unique. Thanks for showing us the real challenges of making these tables and do more (Maybe collaborate with some other makers too which would really boost your subscribers). Outstanding work, keep it up.

I would say find another way to incorporate the yellow. Maybe luster dust? Or find a yellow pigment that isn't as dense. Also, I would do the initial pour but leave space and let that cure, then do the red/yellow mixing as the final top layer.

Also, I love the look of the board! Other than chess, it would make a great dungeon floor for DnD.

So would letting the red mix set up a little bit keep the yellow from settling so far away from the top?
@studiogbk6 ай бұрын
That could work. Temperature also affects the resin alot. Cold makes it thick and more prone to bubbles. The heat thins it out. I definitely poured this one on a hot day.
