Enjoyed your reaction, thanks. I really enjoy Jinora as a character. I put her natural affinity for the spirits down to how some people are just better at math than others. She is certainly the most studious of Tenzin's kids and seems to be the one that takes after her grandfather Aang the most.

I think the wolf told Kanan he was going to die if he would go to save Hera, that is why he was acting so strangely through the episode, the whole cutting his hair and beard was kind of like samurai-style preparing for death, and why he told Ezra how he would do well in the future or something like that, because he knew he wouldn't be there to see it.

This was one of the first episodes of Rebels I ever saw. I remember watching it so vividly. The music was so beautiful but something was off putting to me like something bad was gonna happen. I remember crying after the episode even tho I had just met these characters. So yeah this episode traumatized me 😅

Finally here...this is one of very few times that a show has brought me to tears, let alone it happening again during a rewatch. Such a powerful episode, and one of my favorite parts of Star Wars as a whole. We're in the endgame now. Looking forward to seeing the rest of the series with you

Kanan Jarrus, Caleb Dume, is now one with the force... He is in fact dead... But his memories will live on in his friends, especially with Hera. Pryce's actions in killing Kanan also funny enough destroyed the fuel depot... So there is SOME victory to be had despite it all... God, if only it was possible to bring someone back to life... But the only person we've seen that happen to would be Ahsoka during the Clone Wars, and THAT deed was done by the Daughter and the Father trough the Chosen One... Meaning you'd probably require the power of the GODS in order to accomplish a feat like that, but as we know, the Father, the Daughter and the Son are all dead... So... No luck there. Hell, speaking of Ahsoka, where's she, right? It's implied she might have survived the duel with Vader, but there is a chance Vader just actually killed her... Hell, Vader wouldn't have left her alive after that fight in Season 2 anyways, and all other things point towards Ahsoka actually being dead... So, I suppose Kanan's soul will have SOME company in the Cosmic force... Kanan's will is now part of the force itself, like all beings who dies eventually becomes. It's the cycle of life, it's how that works in Star Wars after all. Unless one can maintain ones own consciousness after death... But we know Qui-Gon did, and he thought Yoda how to do the same, and Yoda and Qui-Gon helped Obi-Wan maintain their consciousness after death as well... While Anakin, being the chosen one, likely had a cheat-card to automatically keep their consciousness after death... At least that is my headcanon... The Chosen One's lineage is just... Sacred in my mind, honestly...

Yeah Kanan is sadly gone. I think deep down we all knew something had to happen though. We're almost caught up to the OG trilogy and since Kanan wasn't around during that they had to find a way to remove him before Luke joined the rebellion. I'm glad he went out the way he did though a true Jedi and Hero, and to explain the sight returning at that moment he was so connected to the force he was already becoming one with it while still alive.

Well, Ben.... I've been waiting for this....... So let's do it..... 3:05 - lol! Yeah, X-Wings look like Xs from the front, while Y-Wings look like a Y from above. While both ships are fighters, Y-Wings are primarily used as bombers. Which is why they have a much tougher hull design. It makes them slower and not as maneuverable.... but they are hard to shoot down. 6:58 - MINOR continuity error here.... X-Wings are not supposed to be able to fire with their S-Foils closed. 12:20 - Ruuk does indeed have a very sensitive sense of smell. It's what makes him a very effective tracker. 16:55 - Of course Chopper didn't WANT to go.... but he also trusts Hera enough to know that she's helping him escape so that he can be more useful in rescuing her. The Empire would have no problem destroying him, which would result in him not being able to help her. Chopper is MANY things..... but he's not dumb. If he can escape the Empire's grasp temporarily, he can help get Hera out of the predicament she is in. 17:45 - Remember, Kanan has a very strong connection to Hera, and could see her through The Force. So, of course he knows what happened. 22:45 - "Through The Force, things you will see. The future, the past, old friends long gone." -Yoda (Episode V). Kanan is having visions through The Force.... 25:00 - No spoilers...... but I would like to point out that "being defeated" does not always mean "being killed", even for a warrior. 25:40 - To a point, you're correct.... but Loth Cats, Loth Wolves, and Loth Bats all have something in common (aside from their planet of origin)... and I can tell you this NOW (partially because I think you've already figured it out, but haven't articulated it yet)..... they all have a strong connection to The Force AND the Planet of Lothal. Even if that was a spoiler, it should be a very minor one, considering that you were (last I saw posted on your channel) about to watch the final episode of the series. 27:40 - Ummmm.... I want you to remember those two details.... Orson Krennic, and Project Stardust. You haven't gotten to that yet, but.... you DEFINITELY want to remember those names/details. That is ALL I'm going to say on that. 29:15 - Yeah.... you can tell that Kanan knows something. It's quite blatantly obvious, even though you don't know WHAT he knows. The first time I watched this, I noted just how "at peace" he seemed to be.... and that had to be the most disconcerting thing about his attitude at this time. It's like, he KNOWS what is going to happen, he's accepted it, and is just waiting for it to happen. Of course, knowing what we both know NOW..... I just hope that I can be that "at peace" with it as he was. 34:25 - Remember kids, do NOT do drugs and fly a glider (or anything else, for that matter) 36:35 - THIS was the worst "omen" ever for what's about to happen. I mean, you just HAD to know the worst was about to go down... Until now, SOMETHING always happened to stop them from saying that golden phrase, "I love you!".... and now it's happened.... There is NO way something horrible is about to happen. Just remember, it's when things are going TOO right... that the "other shoe drops". 37:20 - Kanan is using The Force to keep the flames back, which is preventing the entire tank (and depot) from rupturing and exploding. He turned and used The Force to save Hera, Ezra and Sabine from the explosion. He knew that he could not escape that explosion himself, so he did the purest Jedi thing he could have done.... he sacrificed himself to save those he loved. Hera, Ezra (his padawan), and Sabine (who he considered to be like his daughter)..... Remember how he called Ezra and Sabine "The Kids"? Committing an act SO selfless truly was the Jedi way. He's claimed that his training was not complete.... but I'd use this as evidence to the contrary. It was THIS moment that I advised you to have a box of tissues nearby.... because I've seen several Reaction channels "ugly cry" over the end of that episode, and wish they'd had some within reach. You, personally, may or may not have needed them... but I wanted you to be prepared for it, just in case. As you know, when I put in time stamps to say something, that means I paused the video around that part. So... time to see where this goes with you... 39:00 - It's okay, Ben.... we get it. You're going to need time to compose yourself. Trust me, even someone as cynical as I am needed time to process that. At a later time, I will talk about how personally that event hit me.... because (in short) by the time I watched the animated SW series'.... I had been widowed. So, now I could put myself into Hera's position. I'll probably discuss it in depth when you get to the series finale. There's a reason for that, and you'll understand why, then. Also, while these ARE fictional characters... we DID get invested in them, care about them, and always want the best for them. There's nothing wrong with that. That shows good writing, and the ability to empathize with fictional characters. I will say this (unrelated to Star Wars).... only TWO movies have ever actually made me legitimately CRY over characters in them. The first was the movie "Dragonheart" (1996), the second was "Clerks III" (2022). I highly recommend Dragonheart, as it can be watched "independently" from any other movie. Clerks III... that needs a lot of context before watching, which includes Kevin Smith's "View Askewniverse" movies (Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Dogma, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, Clerks II, Jay and Silent Bob: Reboot, and Clerks III (pretty much in that order)). Those are all good movies.... but that's a LOT of information to absorb. Also, Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes (from those movies) had cameos in the movie "Fanboys", which is directly linked to Star Wars (and I've recommended that you watch at some point). In fact, George Lucas himself endorsed the movie Fanboys, and assisted with making certain parts of it happen. You should definitely find time to "slip that movie in" during your Star Wars journey. Trust me on that. Hell, even ask the channel "It's A Primate" if you should watch it. He loved that movie.

2:20 dayum that shot is good. 16:09 weird, that looks like one of those versions of the TK troopers we've seen in The Bad Batch, the first generation of armor. Chopper not wanting to leave Hera was heartbreaking. 😢 I love all the little easter eggs they give, with Tarkin and him talking about Krennic and Project Stardust. That is indeed the Death Star, as was guessed before. About that, there'll be more about it in the future in Star Wars media made before S4 of Rebels but after S1-3. All I can say about the 2nd episode...well, nothing. That has to be one of the most heartbreaking deaths I've ever seen. 😭😭😭😭 It was heavily hinted at though, but not obvious enough. Wolves that are one with the force, Kanan becoming more dependent on/sticking to the force, his actual name being spoken by the wolves. Still though...😭😭

This scene hits harder when you really stop to think about it. Kanan charged forward to try an absorb the blast with tutaminis. However, he soon realized that the explosion was far too out of control and he was only delaying the inevitable. To save his friends he realizes that he will have to die. As Kanan looks back to his friends he is already in the process of joining with the force as he as achieved peace within the force. In exchange for the energy he is granting the force by joining with it he is given one final gift as a thank you from the force itself. The chance to look upon his loved ones, thus his eyes are healed moments before he passes in the explosion. This was confirmed by series producer Dave Filoni himself.

I always believe that Kanan getting his vision back was a reward from the force itself to Kanan for fulfilling the will of the force. The white Loth wolf to me represents the the planet of lothal using the force to appear as said wolf and to guide both Kanan and Ezra to help liberate Lothal from the destruction of the empire. When Kanan was stopped on the highway by the Loth wolf I believe they had a conversation through the force, much like Ezra did with the Purrgil, and through that he learned his mission that he was going to sacrifice himself and in return the force would allow him to fulfil the promise he made to Hera before the season 2 finale that he would see her again. I cant say much more without alluding to spoilers but god damn do I love this death scene so much. Makes me cry every time.

One thing that Star Wars Rebels hammers home in these last few episodes is that through the Force, anything can happen. Sometimes bad things happen. Sometimes it feels like everything you've worked for is gone. But if you trust the Force, balance will come. There is always light hidden in the darkness.

At the beginning, we see Thrawn’s plans starting to take effect. There’s a factory for mass-producing weapons that could change the future of the war. The Rebellion knows about it and is preparing to destroy it. Thrawn decided just to wait, ready to bleed out every possible attack against him. Looking at this from a broader perspective, Thrawn’s flawless defense ensured he could repel any assault. Meanwhile, the fact that the factory kept producing TIE Defenders would push the Rebellion further into desperation. In reality, the only thing Thrawn needed to do was wait. We saw this in the first episode: he destroyed Hera’s forces but didn’t really care about the surviving pilots because they posed no threat. Of course, he wanted Hera, but he couldn’t predict if capturing her would be successful. His lack of direct involvement in that situation only shows it was a minor detail-a potential opportunity rather than a necessity. Next, we have Thrawn’s conversation with Tarkin. Thrawn tries to stop the Death Star from being built or limit the Empire's resources. The fact that Thrawn left Lothal emphasizes how crucial the TIE Defenders are, both for his strategy against the Rebellion and for the survival of the Empire. Additionally, he was confident the Rebellion had no real way of breaking his defenses, so he attended his meeting with Palpatine. Unfortunately for him, Pryce revealed her impulsiveness again. What would Hera’s escape have done for the Rebellion or against the Empire? Absolutely nothing. Instead of letting Hera go, Pryce fixated on her and, as a result, completely ruined Thrawn’s entire project and buried the Empire’s dominance on Lothal. Now, the question that summarizes the Empire’s catastrophic position: Why would the Rebellion destroy the factory if the TIE Defenders it produces are now useless in combat? As for Hera, I’ll say just one thing: Hera had already admitted her love for Kanan, and they’d kissed many times before. Honestly, the first time I watched this, I thought Hera was simply druged, but now I can see there’s more depth to it later on. [*] Kanan After meeting the wolves, Kanan started acting strangely, and now we have the first part of the answer as to why. I’d bet that his constant meditations were attempts to interpret visions and fully understand what he needed to do. Then we see his farewell with Zeb, his final lesson to Ezra, his goodbyes to Ezra and Sabine, and ultimately, his rescue of Hera and everything surrounding it. What’s especially significant here is the powerful symbolism. Kanan didn’t say goodbye to Hera and, at the very last moment, regained his sight to look at her. This symbolizes that Kanan never intended to leave Hera, and even after his death, he would be with her.
@benspiller
@benspiller 18 сағат бұрын
These episodes really proved how confident Thrawn was in his plan, the first part proves that if he stayed, he’d have been completely successful, but he decided that the minor detail of Hera being lost was enough for him to leave and go deal with the Death Star. He really didn’t see what Pryce could do in his absence and the trust he placed in her was clearly misguided and cost him the fuel depot. Pryce is truly psychopathic and has a severe case of tunnel vision which I’m shocked Thrawn didn’t consider when leaving her in charge, she got so caught up in saving her reputation and not allowing her prisoner to escape that she compromised Thrawn’s ultimate goal for her own personal victory. I gathered that they’d done a lot of this before, but the significance is that it’s no longer hidden and their relationship is out in the open, fully committing to it and everything it means, and then it gets ripped away. Yeah looking back it definitely wasn’t just the drug and I’m still shocked about that reveal. It’s clear now that Kanan knew exactly what was coming and was just working on understanding every aspect of the future he saw to make sure something this significant was done right. All his interactions in these episodes feel so painful now as are some of the last things he did while knowing it. His ending was just so beautiful and bittersweet, the fact that he got his sight back in the end to look at her is amazing and it’s so clear that this wasn’t saying goodbye but instead making sure she knows he’ll always be with her.

Episode 10 has a lot of references and to the stuff you haven’t read. Governor Pryce makes it a point to reference Hera’s voice. This is twofold, Vanessa Marshall is a prolific voice actress with credits going for almost 2 decades now. And as a reference to when kanan first met Hera in the novel A New Dawn. The author made a point to let the audience know Hera’s voice was the first thing Kanan fell in love with. Later the line “Kanan Jarrus, I don’t crash. I have very exciting landings” was used multiple times in the book though it was the first time used in the show. It’s always fun to go back to the novel their the 12 part comic after watching this episode.
