Ugh. Geary is such a grifting ass. Speaking of overpricing, etch is guilty of it

FSE and Gutenberg FTW! I will never go back to pagebuilder plugins.

All good points, thanks. And so you think that the refreshed Divi will remake a splash? I think it might have been the first official Page Builder I bought way way back.
@DavidMcCanКүн бұрын
If they add some of the more modern features then I think it has a chance. It sounds like we both have an LTD for it, so we could start using it if / when it gets up to snuff.

You have a tendency to hype unproven products-Etch now, and before that, Cwicly, which left users stranded. Divi, I can understand, but Etch? It’s not even a product yet! Why not recommend reliable options like Elementor and Bricks that have already proven themselves? It would better serve your audience in the long run. One would have thought the Cwicly debacle might have made you more cautious, but no-YOLO, I guess.

there are several interesting plugins which stopps the wp org connection and you can upgrade plugins trough github or other git systems... then we dont need wp org anymore

Agree with your predictions and here are some from my side. 1. Block niche themes as you said will have hard time to get any exposure as we have very sophisticated themes, templates and builders available in market. 2. Builders based on Gutenberg/FSE will capture decent market share in future Ex: GreenShift. We can say it is a Bricks builder but in Gutenberg. 3. More and more block builders will emerge and creates some confusion around community when choosing the right stack for their websites or even for designers. 4. Elementor will continue to lead the builder market but all these other builders will take some it's share (it's good in my opinion) 5. Matt will likely not satisfied with the result of the case and may make some radical decisions to hold his grip on the WordPress and even may change some fundamentals how WordPress works now. 6. As everyone can fork WordPress and create another version but the reality is it's not at all about the software. It's about the ecosystem and community around it. It's impossible to assemble them into other version of WP. So there will be some forks but likely they won't succeed. 7. Bricks builder will become way more powerful that no other builder can even come close to it's capabilities. 8. More and more plugins and themes will pull their products from wp .org servers and host them on their own servers. 9. New webstudio may capture some market share from WordPress once they got their CMS features fully ready.

do you think custom field and custom post features like ACF ,metabox will come to core ?

Unlikely. Matt mentioned this, but only in the context of fighting with WP Engine. Other times he has indicated there are no plans to do so.

One commenter under Joost's post put it quite accurately that point no.2 is quite bonkers. We can't expect Mullenweg to hand over his personal property (i.e. the site) just because "it would be better for everyone that way." Fun times to be a WordPress user for sure though.

ClassicPress Dejavu anyone! A fork goes nowhere. ClassicPress forked 4.9 and discussions are ongoing for a long time to fork 6.0. The people writing these articles are not fools. They envy what Matt has, DotOrg, and want it for themselves. There is no honour amongst thieves.
@LazyTechDaily3 күн бұрын
Not thieves but opportunists who use slandering ,blamimg to make themselves like a saviour to get free labour . They're also not transparent about domain owner and trademark/brand owner. It's highly possible that these're private property. I suggest who want to contribute look up who is the founder ... their profile , their codes/skills and how they responded to people for example they blamed cloudflare on Reddit 'If Matt wants to pay CF for service, then he can restrict access to anyone he pleases. ' 🚩🚩🚩🚩

Community members should not have to feel that they must be granted anonymity in order to register their disagreement with Matt's behaviour and omnipotent Emperor status. For there to be clear understanding of the amount of momentum away from the status quo, those close to the project would ideally feel comfortable signing petitions in their own name. The fact they might not is telling.

As they say, “Be careful what you wish for!” To break something is easy, to build something is incredibly difficult. It’s all about the money. The assumption and excitement in your advocacy for a fork defies human nature - power, money and control. The premise that Matt is bad, but WPEngine, a PE freeloader, and the Yoast guy, Joost, who sells one of the most ridiculously overpriced seo plugin, are good, and will be noble stewards of the fork, is naive at best, destructive at worst.

Not sure about WpVivid PRO. Personally I don't trust this plugin and their support anymore. I was very happy in the beginning but not after. Lots of things are not working as they should and they have no up to date documentation. Also, their MainWP extension is not reliable at all. Support was fast but not very helpful. It seems I am involved in a never ending troubleshooting. Much love for Advanced Themer tho :) Maxime Beguine is a super hero :))
@webdesignburgdorf3028Ай бұрын
Advanced Themer is great, but they have a bug on their checkout site. When entering personal data, the tax rate will switch to 22% for Italy. What fixes it for me (0%) is to select any other country, then again my country. About Greenshift: impressive features, especially regarding animations, but I found a couple of bugs, and the support did not impress me. Test them yourself before totally commiting.

GreenShift looks interesting, and so does Stackable Blocks, wonder if you have an opinion on the differences?
@DavidMcCanАй бұрын
They are both good. Stackable is more mature. Greenshift if changing a lot but more powerful. Both work in the site editor too.
@marketingwithwpАй бұрын
I have both. GreenShift (GS) adds more of an umph and definitely has more features and functionality compared to Stackable blocks. Moreover, GS has more updates and ideas in the pipeline because it is highly community driven and their community (FB Group) has more engagement/feedback from users. Nothing against Stackable - great founder and team, it does what it needs to do. But if I were to choose one, GS would trumph over Stackable.
