Hello everyone, I'm Anusmita Bera, and I'm currently 17 years old, preparing for NEET exam for becoming a doctor. I know many of you are also dealing with eye floaters, and I've been suffering from them for the past three months. It all started when I noticed a small white dot during my exams, which I initially ignored, thinking it was due to lack of sleep. But over time, I realized it had increased, and now there's a microscopic black dot in my left eye. In my right eye, there's a large floater, but it doesn't appear frequently, likely because of gravity. However, in my left eye, it's much worse. I see tiny squiggly lines, cell-like structures, snake-like shapes, and both black and white dots. These floaters are more pronounced when I squint, especially in bright white light or against a white background like the sky. When I go outside, I can even see a thread-like floater drifting in my vision. When I first noticed these floaters, I felt like my life was over. I thought I would never be able to achieve anything, and I was devastated. I've been preparing for NEET for the past two years, and I'm currently in 12th grade. I even searched online, read countless articles and journals, and explored potential treatments like vitrectomy and YAG vitreolysis. Unfortunately, because I'm young, doctors won't perform these surgeries on me. I consulted my eye doctor last month, and he assured me that my vitreous is stable, but despite this, the floaters haven't gone away. I've been taking supplements for my eye health, like astaxanthin, lutein, and others. While l've become less aware of the floaters over time, they're still there, and they continue to depress me. I'm just 17, and I feel too young to be dealing with this. There is no cure yet, and it's incredibly frustrating. I came across nanoparticle technology, which could potentially help treat floaters, but it's still in the research phase. I'm hopeful that this will eventually lead to a solution, and I won't have to live with this forever. Living with floaters is incredibly difficult, and it's painful to see how many people around the world are suffering from them with no treatment options available. Last November, I bought an iPad, and after long hours of online classes, my screen time increased to 7-8 hours a day. I read a journal mentioning that blue light exposure could contribute to vitreous degeneration, which can lead to floaters. I want to raise awareness about this, and I believe we need to unite to push for safer, non-invasive treatments. One such promising approach is the nanoparticle bubble technology that could potentially destroy the floaters. No one deserves to suffer from this, and I hope that we can work together to find a solution.

Thank you for all you do. I wear very dark sunglasses, I paid extra for the darkest tint and it helps me Immensely. I cannot go Anywhere without them.

A while ago I asked my optometrist if I could add polarization to my clear lenses. He said that polarization requires some degree of tint added to the lens necessary to create contrast with ambient lighting conditions in order for polarization to have any benefit and that, consequently, a clear and functional polarized lens is not possible to manufacture. Can you provide more specifics regarding obtaining a polarized pair of glasses with clear lenses?

We thank you for continuing to take the project seriously and ask that you do not give up. I and thousands of other people are hopeful about your work. Floaters take away our quality of life and we cannot accept a diagnosis in which the doctor simply tells us to get used to them. Thank you for all your efforts in finding a better treatment and possible cure for this!

Thank you for keeping on giving visibility to people with VDM. Since there has been many updates concerning future treatments, could you make an interview or video on this? Perhaps with Felix Sauvage? That would be of the biggest interest for patients I believe. Thank you again!

The VDM Project has failed to achieve anything in 5 years other than talking about floaters. This is going nowhere. Fast.
@ABC-uf9gkАй бұрын
calm down, everything is fine. During these 5 years, they studied how vitreous floaters behave when moving the eyes sideways horizontally. The next 5 years will study how they move vertically. And for the years 2029-2035, research is planned on a form in which people will describe their experiences with floaters.

Have cobweb type floaters in both eyes that are very distracting and hard to deal with. One eye for 12 yrs and for 8 yrs. Would love to have vitrectomies but it is a scary prospect. Have had cataracts in both eyes done and PCO surgeries also. Now I really have blocked vision with central floaters. Can anyone help?
@mocha18862 ай бұрын
I just met with Dr. Omar Shakir last week, he reassured me that the vitrectomy is safe, painless, and recovery is fast. I’m 35 years old and the floaters I have are very debilitating, I was so depressed when I first started seeing them. The doctor said chance of infection is 1 in 5000. He also mentioned that most ppl develop cataracts in their 70s or 60s, getting a vitrectomy will advance the process by 10 years so I will likely get it in my 50s but even then cataract removal is so simple. I don’t know where you’re located but look into this doctor, he is excellent. I think anything is better than dealing with floaters for the rest of our lives.

So what you’re saying is you’ve been doing absolutely nothing to find a cure? That’s all you had to say cuz I can search everything you’re saying right now on google…. Will just keep taking your money tho and pretend we care.

Thank you very much for your work and efforts, you will make history of ophthalmology if you develop a safe and effective treatment for VDM. Will clinical trials in humans with vapour nanobubbles be conducted any time soon? This technology is apparently safe and effective and has been patented.
