This wasn’t an 86’ video. It was actually 1985 when Nancy came on board. The sailor of the year Sk1 Paige was in my division. She came alone because President Reagan was in the hospital recovering from colon cancer. He was supposed to be there. I had the privilege of being in the hangar deck crowd as she spoke. A very small and frail lady. Another day I’ll never forget.

I also surfed that ship through the North Atlantic during a NATO get-together, going through the most serious seas in my life with icebergs, grazy, to a 10 mile long fyord,that we hid in for a week over Moscow.. As rated as 2nd Sailor aboard this ship, was fortunate to have the First Lady Nancy Raagan arrived on a visit dining on the same table for lunch. She wave at me Pleasing. Since getting out of the Navy, had been living back in the Philippine Islands with its memories aboard the USS America.

It was a good ship I was stationed onboard back in the mid 80's. Worked in IM4 Div.
