But what happened? It should have become the foundation for the greatest pop album ever recorded to date surpassing "Srgt. Pepper..." And the ball would have been back in the Beatles court. But it never happened. Pet Sounds was the Beach Boys last great album and "Srgt. Pepper..." was the Beatles greatest album because Wilson wasn't there to push them (Paul in particular) further. Wilson was so fragile and neurotic while McCartney was a strong, ambitions person with a sound mind (despite the chemicals). He pushed through the breakup and plowed ahead with Wings.

I his video is very conflicting for me. What Rolf did out of the public eye was absolutely horrific and unforgiving but nonetheless, he was a very important part of my childhood that has been completely cancelled by what we later learned. I very much miss the public Rolf that we all knew as children, but I hate the version that more modern revelations have made clear to us. It’s hard to reconcile that these were both the same person.

This is beautiful. Takes me back to a time when the world seemed gentler, and here am I crying, listening to this late at night. But it wasn't, maybe not as fast paced. The films were nicer, the music not as loud and the world seemed slower! 😢
