I need some help, has anybody connected a Ronin S with a DJI Focus Pro Motor. I was told and saw advertisements that it would work together, I was even told by someone at Amazon that it would work together, went on to ask for a cable that wasn't just a USB-C to USB-C and it turns out he sent me a link to that very product. So compatibility, do they actually work using RSS to USB-C and to power Ronin S to USB-C. Any help would be useful. Thanks

you'd have to go into the menu for 120fps, HFR is for 60fps

Hey great video! What firmware version were you using at the time of recording the video, the latest version? I've seen a while ago (probably now has been 3 years since 2021) some people mentioned the later firmwares (2021) had more additional features such as camera compatibility and recording features. However, the core smoothness and way the gimbal's motors moved became worse, few wobbles and wasn't as stable as its release firmwares back in 2018, essentially became a worser gimbal with micro jitters, have you experienced anything like this? I plan on using the ronin-s into 2024/25 and would love to know if i should update to the latest firmwares or what not. Thanks in advance.
@CurtisAlvaro28 күн бұрын
I think it may have been on 2.1 or 2.2. Woah I didn't hear about that and currently I don't have issues like that when i'm using it. I had similar issues when using the Ronin-m which I sold off years ago. I think if you have no issues with the current firmware theres no need to update that often - a lot of the movement is from you and this gimbal isn't as technologically updated as the rs2, rs3, rs4 a lot of the settings can be configured on the gimbal instead of the app. That's me personally since I don't really have issues except the weight.

I feel like it depends on the day and how many photos you intend to showcase. I maybe could have went bigger since we took so many photos and it was very grand, but I'm happy with this size. However I think it depends on the situation.

Bought under 1k, and from starting experience, it is a completely different style. I felt more canon vibes, more colour and depth of soul. I've been doing sony a7iii, a7siii, a7iv, and it's more diverse and clean, much less noise. But bmpcc4k i've found that it's about the soul, not detail. And definitely for BRAW only. ProRes or other modes actually damage the colour or are more difficult to work with and color match with different brands. Braw is great for recovering highlights, basically using dual base iso (400-day, vs 3200 iso), but higher iso create more "good" noise. I feel the need to insert noise in overall editing. If you like "detail" this isn't for it. Been enjoying also the mind relaxing of using shutter angle instead of shutter speed, and i use a lot more ND filters with this one. Great learning curve.
@CurtisAlvaroАй бұрын
I couldn't agree more. There's definitely a filmic look that it provides that is a little difficult to emulate with other brands. the BRAW is CLUUTTCCHH

how to put USB-C Ports at your Laptop at risk. Thats not my cup of tea. Upgrade internal storage or whatever gets this external SSD off
@jmibo2 ай бұрын
Why would you not just put a bigger SSD in it?
@Doggo_Bork2 ай бұрын
@jmibo Personally, I like to leave my OS drive with as little clutter as possible. Maybe someone else feels the same. Saves space for cashes plus the original drive works and a portable ssd is cheap.
@jmibo2 ай бұрын
@@Doggo_Bork on the other hand… you risk smashing the drive and losing everything, breaking the usb port with this wacky setup and having to carry extra stuff 🤷♂️ Internal ssds are cheap and you can partition them if you’re anal about folders
@Doggo_Bork2 ай бұрын
@@jmibo Imagine for a moment that your a creator of sorts. You compile loads of data through the day and at the end of the day you need to hand off the data to another who uses it for their part as needed. Your net speed is crap so cloud transferring is slow and you or someone else needed the data edited or processed time yesterday. Easier to save and hand over a drive. Or lets say you want to move large files between laptop and desktop based off where your working or doing at the moment. Having a external drive doesn't just mean they need more space. Could just be transfer convenience or portability. You could easily smash your laptop or spill a drink on it so I cant exactly be swayed by you saying its a smash or break risk.
@Doggo_Bork2 ай бұрын
Be careful with choosing cables and adapters. Both have limits in to data transfer based off build quality so you need to make sure your replacements meet the drives data limits. You could end up slowing down your drive otherwise
@joshbryan902 ай бұрын
And now you can have your drive stolen without you even seeing it happen. Neat!
@EctoBoggan2 ай бұрын
Put a bigger SSD, stop using external SSD since you can broke/lose it and they tend to be really expensive. Build your own cloud or rent cloud space. Carrying SSDs around with valuables data (which is not backed up most of the time) is the most stupid thing to do. Also, walking around with you usb cable/usb dongle plugged in is just another way to ruin your laptop usb port. (sorry if it's a bit mean)
@CurtisAlvaro2 ай бұрын
Valid. Use case if you're using it to record video from a camera to transfer it over to a laptop, or another editor etc. Can't really use a laptops internal for something like that in this case. I also put a decent sized NVME in the laptop but won't solve the issue. If you hit or break it yeah it might ruin it but other then that its ok!

Yes that is also a valid option - sometimes it is used to transfer data from a videoshoot/photoshoot. Using BMPCC4k, a full day can fill the drive and you need to start editing, check footage, or send it off to an editor.

Center column of this tripod is made of aluminum, not plastic. The column itself is pretty sturdy, but the plastic sleeve through which the column slides up and down is rather loose and cannot hold the column rock solid. Peak Design tripod has a similar center column, but is noticeably more rigid when extended.

Curtis, you have no idea how grateful I am for this video. I have been looking for a handle grip to pair with my already attached two SmallRig QR NATO Handle (Rubber) with Safety Rail 2084. This PGYTECH handgrip Mount Plus will perfectly sit in-between one of those handles and the body of the Ronin-S. I don't have to dismount anything. There's an additional accessory worth mentioning and it's the DJI Ronin-S Part 20 Universal Mount which allows you to switch to V-mount power source instead of using the BG-37 grip. Thanks again.
