I did this replacement this morning on a 2004 Canyon. The vents above were brittle and already cracked so I tried doing it without removing them. I was able to do it, just lowered the lower panel like shown except I didn’t have to do the other side of the steering wheel. I unplugged the switch and dropped it out the bottom of the dash. Put it all back together, seems to work so far but the real test will be after dark, all the dash lights kept going out. Thanks again.

Thanks for the video! 2 questions for you - my handle release is not nearly as smooth/easy as yours - very hard to release it. Any idea as to what I need to loosen? I took it out to the infield dirt and it moves after every pitch even with the 2 front spikes. Yours did not seem to move much - are the 2 front spikes enough to keep your grounded? I think because I am having such a hard time releasing the lever it is lifting up and moving. Any tips appreciated!
@joeglogowski9975 ай бұрын
Yeah.. it shouldn't be difficult to gently pull back and allow to fire. That probably has a lot to do with your front pulling up. I was mounting mine into a fairly hard surface under the initial sand layer of the field and even brought a hammer to help tap the spikes down a bit. That proved counter productive because the tops of the original bolts that mounted the spikes ended up breaking off and I had to find some replacement hardware to fix them. As far as movement side to side in the back I ended up using some long bolts that I had laying around and once I got it pretty lined up I would tap them in on each side to keep my left to right aim centered. It can be a challenge depending on field conditions for sure, may have to get creative. I am concerned you may not have something assembled correctly though of it's that difficult to release.. should be firm, but smoothly release with one finger
@afish17475 ай бұрын
@@joeglogowski997 Thanks for getting back to my reply, I appreciate it! Good tip to bring some longer bolts to mark where the arm should be in the back and some longer spikes for the front. I thought of sandbags but that defeats the whole portability component. I looked over the assembly again and tried to loosen up some bolts but it didn't help. To me, It seems like the wedge shape that holds the bar down is too sharp of an angle. I can't get the lever to release smoothly from it. I will keep trying though. I'll post an update if I get it working better. Thanks again.

Yes, it's not even worth messing with compressing springs on these. Done plenty on old hot rods and it never gets any less nerve-wracking.

I ultimately ended up having to replace the plastic handled part that tightens the cross bar to the base by re tapping it with a slightly larger thread and putting in a different bolt all together.
