So many levels of sad 5:35 when Penske announces he's letting Little Al go and hiring de Ferran and Greg Moore for 2000, and then Little Al's reaction. You can tell both men are in serious pain about it. It's well known that once you've been at Penske and are let go, it's a humiliation to do anything but retire...everything else is seen as a step down (although that had changed a bit by '99) and also more importantly, we all know now the real reason he was fired: Al's substance abuse. Which ultimately left him broke, estranged from his family, and with a gun to his head on his 50th birthday, seriously considering suicide. They came up with a BS PR spin that it was because he wanted to run at Indy again, but the entire paddock knew the real reason (always keep in mind that whatever you're told in situations like that, it's never, ever the truth.) Thankfully he chose life, and he finally got better and is living a clean, sober and happy life. Then of course Greg...a guy on the brink of big time superstardom...big money, the biggest team, a truly unlimited future. All gone, in one spin, just a couple months later. It's one brutal sport. Like Hemingway (think it was him) said, "there are only two sports: mountaineering, and auto racing. The rest are just games."

Watching the whole season apart from Fontana. R.I.P Greg. Love Tracy, but too many mistakes! CART was amazing, better than F1. One man's ego ruined it all.

Good win for Jacques Villeneuve coming back from 2 laps down, I hope Scott Goodyear has learned his lesson for overtaking the pace car before the green flag, he deserved to be black flagged for that.

Steve Horn should have been on the radio to Scott Goodyear to tell him that he was black flagged for overtaking the pace car before the green flag, totally Scott Goodyear’s fault.

The tyre wars in the Indy 500 since 1911 have swung back and forth between Firestone and Goodyear, when you think about Scott Goodyear driving for Tasman Motorsports and using Firestone tyres, that’s one irony that takes the cake.

No way Gil de Farran was going to get back into the race with that bent suspension, it was better to retire under those circumstances.

Good race, the rivalry between Goodyear and Firestone tyres has always been a fierce rivalry since the very first Indy 500 back in 1911, even to this day I am still amazed that no driver with the surname Smith has ever qualified for the Indy 500.

The decision not to allow Nigel Mansell to race was sensible after he crashed in qualifying, he should have been replaced with another driver for the race.

Good job, the Belle Isle circuit beats the old street circuit in many ways. Don’t know the layout of the new circuit.

Im so confused, I originally went to this race in Apri but we had a rare winter storm and the race was canceled. Im reading this race was then rescheduled for May 27 which was the Day before the Indy 500. How could they race back in Nazareth on the same weekend as Indy?

The Penske team was definitely the team to beat during the 1994 season, I understand that Ayrton Senna had an Indy Car test during his career, had he survived that crash at Imola in 1994, he would’ve been quite a difficult driver to beat in Indy Car racing as he was in Formula One.

So sad to see how far CART had fallen just in 2-3 years...those stands used to be packed. And getting rid of Danny Sullivan and two legendary pit reporters, Jack Arute and Gerry Gammon, was the stupidest thing ever though I'm sure driven by economics (I'm sure they had to hiring cheaper talent as the series sank in popularity.) Tony George, the man who destroyed open wheel racing in America for two decades....
