I'm a 50-55pmh thrower and the original Tone Salt is actually a pretty decent distance driver for me. It's just a different slot than the Steady Salt, which I really can't throw effectively since I don't have the speed to get a full flight out of it, whereas I can actually use the Tone Salt. Will be interested to see how the 2nd run of Tone Salt flies for me.

I really like the concept of tone but the tone salt just seems like a completely different disc than the regular salt with a completely different flight. Excited if they can progress with the tech and have them come out with the desired flight numbers they use.

It’s not uncommon for different plastics to fly completely differently. You wouldn’t expect a dx destroyer to fly the same as a pop top champ one. That’s just disc golf and plastic manufacturing

Cautionary tale, Folks! This is what can happen when you homeschool a child, filling their head with the crazy idea that anyone can attain a dream or execute a plan, given the proper tools and sufficient support! This proud mom, however, wishes to point out that the barrel lid comes from Real Pickles, the award-winning fermented foods company in Greenfield MA where my son Gillis MacDougall is the youngest part-owner of a fantastic enterprise, while also developing his career as a pro disc golf player. It's not something I could have predicted when I started homeschooling my kid, but I literally couldn't be prouder. By the way, we should make a video next week when Gillis comes to my school music class and entertains kids by playing the bagpipe chanter while wearing the authentic MacDougall tartan kilt lent to him by his generous Uncle Robert. Go, Gilli-Goose! You crack your mom up. XOXO Eveline MacDougall

I am pretty sure "consistant stability" and "consistant overstability" are two different things. I think they mean that tthe same mold will fly the same from one disc to another, and with the help of the gyro technology this will make it more torque resistant, but not more overstable necessarily.

It was really hard to hear what you were saying because your audio ratios are way off. the music was much too loud compared to your microphone levels and it did cover up what you were saying a few times during the video. the music level should be so low that you dont even really notice it. it should be just a whisper of sound that is in the background.

How many throws until the plastics separate like their other discs

Super interesting the idea they could change the ratios top to bottom, and end up changing the stability in the exact same mold. Might be tricky to dial in, but if each run is consistent within itself, you may have something.

I think it's a huge risk releasing a product that doesn't do what it is intended to. It's going to get a bad reputation before you ever get to releasing the actual working product and no one is going to be paying attention anymore if/when you finally get it right.

Is it really supposed to make the disc more overstable? When I read “consistent stability” I was not thinking that the disc would be more overstable at all, but rather that the disc’s stability would be more consistent. Meaning it would be predictable or that it wouldn’t beat in so much and become more understable as quickly. An old Salt would fly like a new Salt. At least that is how I was interpreting it. Do you have confirmation about what they actually mean?
@gillismacdougall-discgolf9535

They can play around with different plastics to get different results
@ScroDiddly
@ScroDiddly 9 ай бұрын
I think one of the few things one can predict is overstability. A Peppermint will always fade. A Tilt will always tilt, regardless of armspeed. Understablility is not always predictable and can change with arm speed. Throwing forehand changes how a disc flies and can more easily turn over a disc. It's not as predictable as something being super overstable. That's how I interpreted it. I'm guessing they are aiming for predictable=overstable. But we'll see!
@ScroDiddly
@ScroDiddly 9 ай бұрын
And yeah, I think you are right about the durability and it staying consistent knocking trees. But from my experience, a durable disc is usually more stable out of the box to keep the predictable flight longer.
@hiddenleaf414

Torque resistance and over stability are 2 different things. An under stable disc can be torque resistant meaning it’s going to wobble less = it reaching it’s gyroscopic stability faster.

My dad's also a lefty, and I actually primarily throw back-hand left hand, even though I'm right handed. I think it has more to do with body/leg/hip orientation than hand though. 95% of a DG throw is lower body and core, not "hand" and most right-handers lead with left food on every single other sport on earth EXCEPT disc golf. Right hand forehand is comfortable for the same reason (legs/hip facing to the right), and I can't forehand lefty, so I end up with basically the same shot (LHBH vs RHFH), kindof ironic. In any case I'm just starting to learn with my right hand (as a right handed person) and I'm still a solid 50-100 feet weaker on average on drives and every throw still feels super awkward and I have to think a lot more about it. I often play solo right vs left and average 3 points higher on right hand.
