The utter romanticisation of Asian culture (or more specifically Korean and Japanese culture) is so weird to me and adding on top of that the total distancing from their own culture just adds to the disrespect. Try and tell these people about the strong patriarchal society that East Asian countries have compared to the US or tell them of the issues in Korea with the likes of deepfaking and the Nth Room situation or telling them about upskirt photos leading to women only train carriages in Japan and they’ll cover their ears and ignore you cos they only wanna see those countries through their romanticised glasses instead of the reality where the men act like kdrama characters and look like kpop idols
