Singaporeans are very kind. 3:53 8:48 made me teary-eyed. However, you shouldn't say you "wasted" a whole day just get $1 because in real homeless life, that's a lot already. Even a dollar you earned is still a step close to your goal. Inspirational video btw. ❤❤❤ I can't understand what she said but I guess she said something like "You smell bad."? Am I right? LOL

at the end of 73 hours you are home safe and sound with a drink and a meal...so just 72 hrs will give you the experience of a homelss person? this is a feel good that you roughed it out for 72 hrs but you knew at the 73rd hr your life reverts back...at least you tried

Agree, please do more useful content than "7 types of girls you meet". It's embarrassing that Singaporean content creators are just using sex and stupid unfunny jokes to get views.

Very interesting experiment and very nice editing! Why not also make one for random freelance job with hourly rates, from washing dishes to manning a stand or even better discovering places that offer food donation.

Great experiment! Compared to the US you had it on *easy mode* and here's why: Singapore is an actual first-world country with a low crime rate, clean, and with sensible drug laws. In the US, it's dirty, drugs are *everywhere* and there are tons of hardcore homeless people everywhere and they're mentally ill, addicted to the drugs that are everywhere, or both. Crime is high and violence is high. A lot of homeless people sleep during the daytime, because it's too dangerous to sleep at night. At night they can get robbed, beat up, killed, set on fire, even raped and yes this includes males. It's really, really bad in the US! Also, interestingly, the amount you get for cans and bottles is the same as the US, and the tips for telling a joke were about the same (I had a friend who did that) but things are much, much cheaper in Singapore. That bottle of water you bought at first for 40c would be at least $2 in the US maybe more. I calculated that homeless people here, downtown where there are no water fountains or any source of free water, are paying $2 a liter for drinking water. As for asking for "a job for a day" at shops and restaurants, the way to do it is to ask the person working there, 99% of the time a low-paid worker, if there's some job they don't like to do that you can do for a dollar or two. Even though they are low-level peons, there will be something they don't want to do that they'll pay you a dollar or two to do. This means you can make $20, $30, maybe even $50 a day. I'm in San Jose, California, the center of "Silicon Valley" and I make what amounts to $50 a day, it's big money here. I could make the same money doing odd little jobs for shops and restaurants though, or playing an instrument on the street if I put in enough time at it. TL;DR: This experiment plus about 2435924592491414018402343 other pieces of data prove Singapore is a better country than the US.

Conclusion: You won't be homeless for an long time If you beg more. Because you have to use those money to buy something. Then after buying something like 10 items, You could sell It by the same price like $1.50 sgd for an popsicle, $2.00 for medium sized chips, and more.

12:11 The "homeless" ppl in Singapore knows how to make themselves do not look homeless... that's what I found out... you can only identify them for sure later in the night when they 'retire' for the day and sleep in the public areas

1:01 You missed.... Identify free (ask around) wifi and charging points (24 hrs availability of possible) so you can charge phone & access internet... with internet you can search for other (almost) free resources e.g temple soup kitchens, free clinics etc...

homeless is not jobless bro... and chinatown definitely the wrong place to go looking for them... most homeless people will be situated in places like where you had your first night... any places where they could shower and rest in absence of police screening will be places they will congregate...

kudos to you for trying to 'walk for 3 days in a homeless person's shoes'. Many things are in your favour - your youth, the fact that a camera is following you around, a working smartphone presumably not on a prepaid card etc. that some homeless people may not have, but mostly what you've faced - the rejections from ppl, the harsh sleeping conditions, the emotional lows are real.
