Pretty much the only technologies that aren't entirely fictional are the pulse detonation engine and the ground effect channels. Pulse detonation is a new, stronger, and more efficient way to burn fuel in rockets and jet engines, but it has been difficult for anyone to master. Ground effect however is the extra lift of air on an aircraft flying close to the ground, so exactly the opposite of what you want for a race car. The name of the fictional technology sounds like it's meant to maximize the ground effect but maybe it's a way to mitigate it in order to stick to the race track like what faster cars already try to do with fins and spoilers.

It's quick-save impact foam. Essentially, when destruction is imminent, this foam surrounds and seals the driver and launches one away to safety.

He's saying danger gave way to the omnipresent quick-save device. The quick-save device is that rapid impact foam that surrounds the driver and launches one out of harm's way during a terminal crash.

Probably the same reason why airbags deploy on hit, rather than when the car wrecks: damage to drivers happens quicker, so their protection has to happen quicker

There is, but the software I used to rip it didn’t allow it at the time and I have a different pc now, which has neither the software nor a disk drive… it’s an extra on the official dvd. and at the time, I only uploaded for archival reasons, since it wasn’t available at all back then (idk if anyone else uploaded in higher quality in the meantime, else I’d link it.)

This has always been one of my favorite parts of getting the DVD. I just love it as the little details treating these cars as real machines.

This was ripped from the DVD special features. The Blu-Ray didn't have it, so we're stuck with a low quality version unless someone reuploads it in higher quality. Time will tell if anyone would step out to do something so, so out of the way.

Cool Fact: After Rewatching the movie I realized that snake oiler’s street car has an single turbo RB26 from the Skyline GTRs (R32-R34)in it based on the sounds used in all of its clips

The tracks of Thunderhead, the Fuju Helexicon and the Grand Prix coliseum remind me so much of Hot Wheels tracks. In fact, the entire live action adaptation of Speed Racer is the closest we can get to a live action adaptation of Hot Wheels, at least just in my opinion.
