The tyres (tires) on the Ferraris were supplied by the Belgian company Engelbert, who subsequently entered into a partnership with Uniroyal and were taken over by Continental. Nothing to do with Pirelli.

That crash that ended this event was- from what I’ve read- really grisly for those who had to deal with it. Spectators killed, some pretty violently plus a driver essentially ripped in half. Not a pretty scene.

What seats are those and where did you source them?
@7Spot556
@7Spot556 8 күн бұрын
Hey Jim, From Al, The seats are Recaro’s from a Porsche 914. I bought them used from a friend. Stock 914 seats reportedly work pretty well also as the 914 seat is narrow.

Ron is a very interesting and passionate man and he gave me a lot of his time with his personal involvement modifying my chassis in the driver's footwell to take account of my height when I placed my order. I'll never know what planet he was on in his £250 build cost claim but nonetheless it set the tone for building an interesting and fun car on the cheap which in my case turned out to be about £4000!

I always wanted to build one from the time the book first came out. But family responsibilities and not knowing how to weld I kept pushing it off. I'm now 72 YO and would still like to build one just to say I did it . The problem I now have is my wife would make me get rid of my Spitfire as I'm not allowed to take up the entire garage .

For us (at 7Spot), the story is absolutely everything and this story (Ron’s Locost story) is an important part of automotive history. It was such an honour to meet Ron and Matt to do this interview. As I have said many times before, the best part of the work we do is helping share the stories that our little cars help us tell.

I went today and it was a busy event once again. More traders than last year and more cars to see in general. I got there early so I could get a good look around the trade hall before it became busy. Some really high quality exhibits, especially the GT40's and Cobra's. I was going to have a chat with Trevor but he was doing interviews with the kit suppliers every time I saw him ! I caught up with a few people I hadn't seen in a while on the Tribute owners club stand as well as a few others. Great day today, if you go Sunday it will be sunny all day which is a bonus !

It would be nice, if in these meets with the pros, they would share real infos, like how you design the suspension, what to look for, what software to use, etc. Shortening a steering rack, for example, or do I need a carbon canister, to avoid the gas smell in the garage after a drive, or how many circuits are in a Locost, which body wire harness they would recommend(for Locost prices), how they made the windshield frame, how they dealt with the windshield glass, how they bent the aluminum sheets for the body work, etc.. Maybe even some registration examples, or needed lights(heights from the round), PCV is needed, (if not how they deal with those gases) to pass the inspection.

@@hicostlocost I'm almost done, but some forum members pointed out something that I did not think about. I have added a cross tube at the front lower control arm(close to the chassis, same as Caterham has it), to add rigidity. It looked good, felt safer, but they have noticed that, if I turn the rubber boot would scrape on that cross tube. Now I have to cut it out. Inner tie rod is very close to the lower control arm. I have 17" wheels. Another example, I have made jigs for control arms, tacked them and thy fit nicely into the chassis, but I fully welded them out of the jig, and all the arms warped a lot. Big mistake, only tacking the arms in the jig is not enough.

kzbin.info/www/bejne/hpeTqKmoqbB9jqc Save some money and get (make) rubber guards! I have a Caterham SV 450; the original stainless rear guards looked horrible fairly quickly as they get dented and stone pocked....this will quickly happen with carbon-fibre too, but rubber, way cheaper than either, just shrugs off stone damage. Simply cut from black rubber sheet1/8" thick....they look way nicer then stainless. Lighter too!

Evora all day, its just a better Lotus. Better engine / power, better aero, better sound, and worse comfort and sound system, so all around, its a better Lotus ! The Emira is a Lotus for the mass ! It's the brand strategy to try to touch more public that's all...
@strmshadow8411
@strmshadow8411 23 күн бұрын
I'll take the Emira with a slight tune. It has the same engine (less power), better aero, sound between the cars would be the same with same exhaust, better comfort and better sound system (not that good overall). I'm pretty sure with the same power, the Emira will edge out the Evora on basically every track, as it has better grip and similar weight.
