I was an apprentice once, and quickly learned that not all nails are easy to pull. In this case the nails are annular grooved. I remember when I first started, I used to do the same thing. If you have a good boss. he will explain a better and more efficient way to remove nails.

Idk what gen it is but Im about to retire and I’ve thought many people in my field. But this last gen is the one that doesn’t even know how to use their own hands.
