He was so freaking creepy in this role. Too often people want to play the role romantically, like he really has a chance with her. Butler was almost too good looking and too young looking. I'm not judging. He did a great job, but THIS guy is completely unhinged. Other people also want to make it about his love for her, but The Phantom only truly loved himself. He adored HIS talent and HIS writing. She was, as he said, just a mask to showcase HIS brilliance.

I have seen the new produktion and that was many changes. Overture was changed in small details and new chandelier. Orchestra memeber was shorter. Higher ticket prices. Since they had to close for a period and Harold Prince passed away in 2020, they had to get a new director for the new produktion and then Cameron Mackintosh and Webber didn't have to pay royalties to relatives. Also production designer Maria Björnson and musical stagning & choreography Gillian Lynne that are dead
