The app and the remote don’t play nice together. Very frustrating, you make changes in the app, but the remote doesn’t reflect those changes and sometimes you wind up reversing things when you use the remote if you initiated with the app and vice versa. You have the option to turn off the LED on the remote, but not in the app. With the app you press certain options and you can’t tell if they took hold because the icon doesn’t light up.

Worst Technical Support and Customer Service I called Cooper Hunter due to an E1 error after diagnosing the system, where the compressor, reversing valve, fan, and other components were in good condition. Cooper Hunter advised me to replace the control boards for both the indoor and outdoor units. After ordering and paying around $360 for the two control boards, I went to replace them. When replacing the board for the indoor unit, I noticed that the air sensor terminal was different, so I called technical support again. After providing my information, they told me the board had an upgrade and that they would send me a new sensor within three days. Up until now, no issues. However, it’s worth noting that if there’s an upgrade to their products, they should be aware of it, as my client will have to wait an additional three to four days to get the unit working again. I continued installing the control boards, and when I finished, I tried to power on the unit to check that everything was in order. However, I noticed that the unit didn’t turn on and the breaker had tripped. I checked again, and the new board was burned out. I double-checked the compressor, which I had tested before ordering the control boards, and it was in good condition. After installing the new board, however, it was burned out. I called technical support again, and they asked for pictures of the board’s connections, which were all fine. They asked me to test the equipment, and I confirmed that the compressor, fan, and reversing valve were all burned. All these components had already been tested and were in good condition. I told them that the new board had caused the damage to the rest of the equipment, and they told me to buy a new compressor, fan, and reversing valve. They said they would send me the outdoor control board at no charge, and if I didn’t want to pay for the parts, they would only send the board for free. But what am I supposed to do with the board if all the other components are burned? The person I spoke to in technical support had the worst customer service, shouting at me, being rude, and telling me to shut up. His name was Jaime Martinez. I told him I didn’t have time to argue and asked to speak with his manager. I’m not sure if the name he gave me was real, but he told me his name was Jerry Shawn. He said the same thing-that they wouldn’t cover the damages-and told me I had to hang up because he had another call waiting. This is the worst company, and I would not recommend them to anyone. They have no integrity and are a disgrace to the industry. I will continue to spread the word about these scammers, as companies like this are damaging the U.S. market. They are part of the problem, not the solution.

Wish I had this video earlier, finally found the key slot. I was worried I was pushing open the motor mount too much but it finally popped un-clipped and I had to clip it back in with the new motor. My motor started making noise a few months ago, and had been running for about 2 1/2 years none stop. I was just going to clean the fan blades as they were all covered in dust and the summer heat was causing problems, but the noise was too much once I had the cover off. Took about a month for a new motor to come from China, not sure if C&H may have had the replacement part cheaper and faster than $50.

This unit uses a small condensate pump that should be cleaned out you have to add enzymes to the condensate pan. I think If you disassemble it to this point you are only a few screws away from exposing the pump which should be inspected for clogs but this video didn't show that step.

I have an issue with my multi-zone unit. I didn’t know all the units had to either be on heat or ac at the same time otherwise one will work while the other will shut down. That makes sense, if you think about it but now even knowing this, now we keep all the units on either heat or a/c but still have the same issue if we want different temperatures in each room, since some bedrooms are way hotter than others. I don’t know how to keep them all working all night without one shutting off bc of another. Especially I don’t know how to set up the common area so we don’t wake up to a freezing downstairs. Help! (We’re having this issue in the fall where the temperature varies by about 20 degrees day and night- we had no issues in the summer).
