The hardest part (to me) of doing this job is getting the boards in - especially under the wall between the tack room and horse area. Is there a vid that specifically covers this?

Do you have any videos or information on how to rebuild/repair a dressing room door on a horse trailer? I have a 2001 circle J Rata three horse with a separate tack room and separate dressing room, both doors seem to be falling apart a bit May need to be realigned. Any information or help is greatly appreciated are awesome

A good fabricator should be able to fix and/or align it. Travel trailer doors can sometimes be substituted when an original part isn't available.

My daughter and I ripped out & are replacing the floor in the horse trailer, (new 2z12's). I laid the boards appropriatly, (on pallets to keep them just above my old dirt driveway (dust suppressor :)) and applied one coat (hot day done by 1pm) of my dirty cummins motor oil and diesel mixture, (50/50) on every one side of each board, intending 3 coats. Three nights later it spontaneously rained/hailed like a cow doing everything on a flat rock. They got real wet. The top boards have bowed one way ore another. Am I too late? A lot of people do 1 and done. I thought I was going to be an over achiever... Daddy would be proud. I'd ask him what to do and he'd tell me but, he's gone. I'd really appreciate your advice if you please. Thank you Fyi: I got 12 screws out using ATF and Acetone (50/50)... Youre right :)

Does anyone know if the front center beam inside the trailer is structural? I've seen lots without them and I'm wondering if I could safely remove it.

Did you not hear him explain that it held the electrical wiring? He stressed that removing it would cause a lot more work. Total re-wire job on top of the rust issues.

Question for David Bodin- as a horse trailer expert, would you provide an expert evaluation of a horse trailer that malfunctioned on the highway causing my daughter's horse to fall out while being transported? We are looking for someone to determine a probable cause for the accident by evaluating the photos taken by the state trooper onsite. We were forced to euthanize the horse. So very sad. Any suggestion would be appreciated.

This idiot really doesn't know what he's talking about! As an owner of one of these trailers for decades, I can tell you he's dead wrong on all his criticisms of this trailer. He's just putting brender up down in order to try to make the crappy American-made horse he's trying to sell look good.

I think the biggest problem with these trailers as NIH (not invented here). I love mine and should I wish to replace it at some point in time will buy a Boeckmann which is very similar in design. I cannot understand why U.S. manufacturers refuse to at least build trailers having a truly aerodynamic design thereby improving gas mileage and eliminating sway. Pulling a walk-in freezer down the highway really doesn't make a lot of sense.

I sell used trailers and periodically get Brenderups. Although I agree the guy in the video obviously isn't a fan, they aren't a trailer I or my wife would want to own , mainly due to the flimsy build of it. They are designed for bigger horses and a big horse who decides to be a bad big horse, could tear it apart. AIso parts are hard to find. There are a few things that are great as a design feature compared to American trailers, like the rear entry being as tall as the interior, so your horse won't hit their head on the spot they usually do. Why American made trailers haven't caught on to this design, I don't understand, in fact most American trailers do the exact opposite and have a 6-8" lip that nearly insures a horse with eventually hit their head! But then Brenderup does some really goofy things like put escape and tack room doors that are made for someone 4' tall. They have a poor floor design which I've had to replace a few times. I've also had to replace an air shock in that is part of the braking system that was a pain to replace and I had to order the part from the UK and it was $83.00, which should have been $12.00-$20 tops! The worst part is that they are expensive.
@herbenzweverink27623 жыл бұрын
buy parts in the Netherlands,...air shocks for braking are indeed a little overpriced. the doors they keep that small for construction strength. I'm an big guy, and fit trough the hole with ease,...INDEED they not are not American sizes,... the floor of all European trailer (now almost all aluminium compound) are a pain in the.... but if you know what to do even the floors last....

This review inaccurately characterizes these trailers. They are quite durable and safe. Opening the windows provides lots of airflow due to the design and location. No trailer is perfect but the Brenderup is a good option that does not require a 50k large truck.
@RunsWithCamera227 жыл бұрын
Great video! Very to the point and practical. I am attempting to transform a horse trailer into a sound-proof rv. ( I needed the indoor height and wall strength.) Do you also sand down the metal under the trailer? All surface areas rust and the underside of the trailer is exposed to lots of water and rocks.

Interesting. My friend has a Benderup and had her horse completely melt down in it one day (bee sting) when we were travelling together. It kicked the cr*p out of the trailer and there was nothing but scuff marks on the back and the walls. I don't think an aluminum trailer would have come through as well as her Benderup did.

I would simply like to point out that this type of trailer is found all over Europe due to a number of reason, including weight, size of vehicles there, cost of materials, etc. It is not unusual to see one being pulled over the Alps with a SUV and sometimes, even sedans. One must also remember that the European tongue weight (3.75%) is far less than the US (10% to 19%) standard. A fully loaded Brenderup Royal TC will never put more than 165 lbs. on the tongue. I have owned a Royal TC for 6 years. Yes, I pull the mats up when not in use as I would with any trailer. Yes, I do the required maintenance on it each year, again, as I would with any trailer I own, and yes, I spent a great deal of studying before I purchased it. I did not, nor could I afford a truck, so our SUV had to be able to suffice. No one should overload ANY horse trailer, not just these particular style of trailers. No trailer is infallible as you state, but I have to agree with "thrivefeedvideos" that this review is somewhat misleading toward this particular style of trailer.
@thrivefeedvideos10 жыл бұрын
Pretty obvious you have never owned or pulled one of these trailers. They give your horses a fantastic ride. Horses are very comfortable in the Baron. They are skillfully engineered and beautifully made, typical Danish engineering. I have never had to tighten up a bolt, no horse has ever cracked anything by pushing it. There is no better or safer trailer for two horses to be towed by a smaller SUV or sedan than this trailer. The brakes are wonderful, with two horses loaded you would not even know the trailer is on the back when you go to stop. Safety is a huge priority with these people. I happily move my precious horses everywhere in these trailers Your review is biased, inaccurate, and misleading.
@Qashani10 жыл бұрын
Please read my earlier comment. And yes, I have pulled them, AND repaired many of them. They are well made, and a great trailer for their purpose, but they're not infallible. But what people don't take into consideration is that by using light tow vehicles, with two large horses and even a trailer as light as a Brenderup, what they're towing can weigh more than the tow vehicle, which is a dangerous situation.
@BreeKayBe8 жыл бұрын
We pulled a couple horses in one, the thing was like a sauna, or actually reminded me of a porta potty, horse came out covered in sweat. It wasn't even that long of a ride. Never again, whic is a shame as my SUV could pull one.

just buy parts in the EU and ship them they are planty around and cost little. I drive an Chevy truck and just buy parts in the US snd ship them to the Netherlands,..why? simple the cost are just 1/3. My Brenderup is now 21 years old and looks just great. No problems or what so ever. End even after this age, they look modern. Everyone thinking off buying an used one,...go for it!
