It’s not subjective how inflated the health bars are. Comparing a handful of main story bosses in FromSoftware’s previos souls title: Dancer 5,100 HP, Elden Ring Fire Giant 42,363 HP, Champion Gundyr 4,950 HP, Elden Ring Rykard 89,613 HP, Pontiff Sulyvahn 5,106 HP, Elden Ring Farum Godskin Encounter 26,350 HP.

Which one do you feel is the least “Stretch” here?

@@CasaVadd Probably the one about removing the science of timing for flash and pomp, but it's a stretch because learning the timing is still important and required for bosses.

That's definitely boss and level dependent. The more you explore gathering gear, levels, and the like; the less learning anything about the bosses movesets matter.

In prior Fromsoftware titles you'd have to go out of your way to farm levels or gear. Elden Ring is heavily designed to encourage exploration. I think anyone really diving into the world of Elden Ring will have a hard time not becoming overpowered. Casual exploring will reward you a lot of levels and items that hard counter main story bosses. Fighting bosses with the consistently overpowered character takes away from any need to learn bosses. I watched more first time souls payers about one shot Rennala than any other boss. Godrick the Grafted is a two phase boss, however seems most players barely see one full phase. Both Margit encounters and Mohg have dedicated item counters (Shackles). Radahn is extremely weak to Scarlet Rot. Godskin Duo has almost no sleep resistance. Rykard gives you the Serpent-Hunter Great Spear and then you can facetank and spam attack to win.

I wasn't really talking about difficulty at all. But, what do you think?

You can even skip both Limgrave Tree Sentinel and Margot as they completely optional.

@@CasaVadd which shows my point even more the bosses that are actually difficult to a new player are skipable and then when u have some levels you can come back to fight them easily, darks souls used to lock your progression if you cant beat a boss. Which is the only time you would have to learn a boss. And dont get me started on the pvp changes.

Boss Walling Progression does create a very different experience compared to an open world for sure. Iudex Gundyr is the first boss in Dark Souls 3 and there are no real option to power up prior. Until Iudex Gundyr is defeating you can't move forward or do much of anything.

I'd guess DS3 Iudex has had more players quit. But, by the numers Tree Sentintel probably has more kills, as more folks have played Elden Ring. Elden Ring Sold More copies to date than the combined sales of: Dark Souls 1,2, & 3, Sekiro, Bloodborne, Sekiro, & Demon's Souls.

Elden Ring is a masterclass in game design. Sekiro is an excellent Souls Game. Elden Ring and Sekiro are fundamentally distinct.

Of FromSoftware’s Souls Games Elden Ring is definitely the most approachable. They really did something special to give what was a very niche genre broad appeal.

Hi Aussie! Have you ever tried Monster Hunter World? It’s not the same combat as Elden Ring. But, the combat has a similar flavor at times.

Hi CamThePenguin! There is some carryover in player skill between FromSoftware’s titles. You might discover on a return to Elden Ring you have leveled up. Assuming you don’t have open world fatigue, you may find less dread on a future journey into Elden Ring.

Caves are visible on the map. They have a distinct contrasting Red outline. Yes… you can miss things… however, Elden Ring’s game design is for you to find things. Snowfield is carefully designed to not be missed. It’s visible from other mandatory zones. The map also trains players to color it in. Snowfield being a clearly defined giant blank map space is the clue you missed a thing.

@@CasaVaddis this some rage bait? One of the key parts to the lift that leads to snowfield is hidden in an urn in the darkest corner of a village under a cliff in the outskirts of liurnia😂

Snowfield being a clearly defined giant blank map space is the clue you missed a thing. Ignoring all those designs choices... questlines also run you strait into the needed Haligtree Medallion. In Liurnia Latenna's quest: the first object is to get the Haligtree Medallion. In Limigrave Nepheli Loux's Quest: You travel to the Village of the Albinaurics where Albus has the Medallion.

@CasaVadd a soulslike is a game that's I'm the same style as darksouls just made by someone else a soulsborne are the original ds ect all in the same style and made by (mostly) the same team And it's not mine I didn't make it up its common knowledge and it's even common sense it's in the name soulsLIKE

What's make Elden Ring a Souls Game for you?

@@CasaVadd identical combat, identical death system, same monetary system, bonfires, similar weapons, function of magic, movement, and its also a soulsborne released by fromsoft

@CasaVadd dude what doesnt?? the combat and movements is nearly a copy paste, the screens when you complete a major thing such as "great enemy felled" show up the same as other souls games, graphics are slightly better but at the basics the same.. the list goes on and on I could keep going for like an hour. what's different???

I like the turn between the action. Makes things feel less Real Time Strategy and More Tactical in nature.
