That was such an incredible homage to the graphic novel, so well animated for its time and love the 3D Joker model (WB should treat animation seriously and give us a Spider-Verse-esque Batman movie instead of more direct-to-video 2D cartoons). Great Mark Hamill impression.

The animation looks peak. You've nailed with the expressions and body movement. Probably the best adaptation of the Killing Joke.👍🤡

I love how solemn and sad this version is. You can tell the Joker genuinely wants Batman to understand him. He views Batman as a similar soul and is confused and frustrated that Batman disagrees with him.

This version gave me unrealistic expectations for the official version, which could never live up to it even with the real voice actor.

David Tennant would fit this version of Joker so well. At least the look. I get the feeling he could pull off the voice well enough, too.

The Killing Joke had better execution. Here Joker just seems moppy and sad, in the Killing Joke, he literally monologs in Mark Hamill's voice before beating Batman over the head WHILE continuing his speech. You can't get more Joker than that.
@jiggusfiggus
@jiggusfiggus 6 ай бұрын
The was supposed to be mopey, haven't you read the comic? He literally was confused how Batman was not insane as he was. The movie just butchered half the monologue for a lousy action scene.

@@jiggusfiggus Lousy action scene? He was literally frustrated and angry that Batman wasn't insane, which is way more understandable from a genocidal egomaniac maniac than crying over it.

I love the Owlman's reaction to the realization of meaninglessness of everything. "It's not funny, but it's also not not funny". Instead of becoming just like Joker and going hysterical about it or Batman with his beliefs in good and better way to the end, Owlman has decided to simply put the entire existence out of its misery, himself included.

With what I have learned about the planet this past year, this makes too much more sense to me now. When there is an actual risk of the seas going sulfuric like 251 mya, erasing basically EVERYTHING, with no survivors, no memories, everything humanity every achieved just being another random ore deposit in some number of million years... It really is all just a bad joke. A sick joke that could have been headed off at least a bit if not for the greed of all the corporations. We might not even have any fish, whales, or such in the oceans by 2050ish. We all got the free ticket that was sent us. All it takes is one bad day. And that bad day is a day or two of no meals when the famine comes from all the climate crap that is happening.

Sometimes I wonder if the Joker is just trying to prove a point but chose the worst possible to covey it. Then again, the Joker movie did a great job of showing just how ignored is was.

I saw this video as a teenager and now as an adult it holds up so well. Especially the ending where the Joker asks, "Why aren't you laughing?" Seriously, it's meant to be sad while the movie adaptation just has him be angry. This video feels way more powerful than the actual movie adaptation.

The way he goes from smug and contemptuous to quiet and introspective is so beautifully directed and highlighted by the music. That ending where he reaches the hall of mirrors, looks into his own eyes, and wonders how anyone can see the world as anything other than a joke, especially someone who went through what he did. There's so much conveyed there. "I thought that, after what happened to me, the only thing that made sense was to go mad... but you didn't... so why did I?" It makes Joker snap out of it, just for a second, and look at himself. That moment where he asks "Why aren't you laughing...?"... He isn't the Joker anymore. For just one second, he's Jack again, and he looks at himself, and he sees what he has become, and the shock of it is conveyed in the eyes and voice flawlessly. Its one of the best piece of Batman media I've ever seen.

It doesn't matter if you catch a lunatic and send them to the asylum, there's no difference between the lunatic and everyone else. All it takes is one bad day to reduce the sanest man or woman alive today to utter lunacy, that's how far away the world is from becoming like the Joker. Just one bad day. I had two years worth of bad days, and it drove me as crazy as everyone else, but some people refuse to admit it. They have to keep pretending that life makes sense, that there's some point to all the struggling. The point is, I went crazy. When I saw what an awful joke the world can be I went as crazy as a court jester. I admit it! So why can't everyone else? After all, not everyone is unintelligent, so they must see the reality of the situation. Do you know how many times we've come close to World War 3 over a misunderstanding or a flock of geese on a computer screen or on a radar screen? Does anyone even know what triggered the last world war? An argument over how many telegraph poles Germany owed its war department creditors. Telegraph poles! It's all just a joke! Anything that people like Hitler, ISIS and even the BLA ever struggled for, it's all just one monstrously demented gag. So why can't we all see the funny side? Why aren't we all laughing about it?
