Hi ! I got the Internet in 2007, and stumbled on Ramms+ein by chance. Instant fan ! (I'm 74 now). Had some bad times, so, when it cleared, got back on my feet, and at 72 went on my first R+ concert in 2023 - naturally in the Feuerzone (in Padova, Italy) - and even I knew what to expect, I was blown off my feet ! Last year in Klagenfurt, Austria, naturally , Feuerzone. And I cannot wait for the next European tour, hoping both they and I are well. And, btw, if you go again, go down, as near the stage as you can, it's impossible to describe, and you get to see things that are hidden from the seats high up. Tschuss !

Good point, but that's not the focal point here. He surely didn't speak it on a daily basis, which made it interesting for me to check out his speaking and pronunciation skills - also for language learners.

I have watched most of your Rammstein videos, do you think I'm going to watch this compilation? Of course I am! 🥰 I went to see the band in 2022 and Till last year when they came to the US, I hope they do more live shows in the future, they're something else to witness. 💕

Genuine question if you want to represent the English language, would you use the us flag or the United Kingdom’s flag. As a Brit it caught me off guard seeing the English translation with an American flag behind it 😂

I think the most obvious oxymoron is that, the character that Till played is all about "big tits" without the need to grasp them or kiss the woman, which means that the only way he could appreciate "big tits" would be through vision, yet ironically, he's almost completely blind. I'm not sure if dogmatic shallowness or "impractical social norm" is the satire Rammstein wanted to convey through this song, but with their style, I speculate there should be a deeper meaning.

I still wonder why the English version uses "red" instead of "air". Why "99 Red Balloons" as a translation when "rot" never appears in the song?
@DefinitelyGerman21 күн бұрын
Good question, I'm not sure either. Maybe it had something to do with "red" representing communism? The song was released during, the Cold War. I don't know though.

So jung unt doch so alt Young as in the country is young, only recent reunified, and yet so old because Germans have lived there for a long time but in many different empires, countries etc. very very cool, one of the many reasons I love this song.

"and press them into my cold veins" It's kind of interesting that this is kind of passive. The demons, ghosts and black fey are doing this, but it's not strictly at the behest of the lyrical I. Kind of fits in with the video where Till is seemingly begging the lady we see throughout.

Does "Sandmännchen" not exist anymore? The line "Nun liebe Kinder, gibt fein Acht/Ich hab' euch etwas mitgebracht" is taken from the "Sandmännchen"-theme. It was a children's show, broadcast daily around 7 p.m.

It does still exist! Didn't think of that when I made the script, but good observation! :)

Mutter is how I was introduced to Rammstein when I was a teenager, and I never really clicked with this song back then (Sonne was the song that made me a fan). But then they released the music video for it a number of years back, and listening to it then I finally got into it. Also recently I've been watching that piano version of it a lot so I love the fact you released this when the song has been on my mind so much! Great work as always.

It's interesting to see "regel" having the same two different meanings that the English translation "rule" has. One being a guiding principle to which one adheres, and the second being to have authority and command over a group. For instance, "the king's rule over his country was strong, and he always followed the rule that a good leader is kind to the people".
@DefinitelyGerman23 күн бұрын
Hey Joshua, thank you! Appreciate your insightful comments. :)

As a native English speaker, an Amerikaner, I feel the need to defend "fire hose". See, we use that to mean a very specific kind of hose. It's a very wide heavy canvas hose carried on firetrucks. But, we also have garden hoses, used for watering your garden or lawn, and all sorts of short small hoses used in all sorts of machines for conveying oil, or hydraulic fluid, or gasses, or whatever else is used. So, a "fire hose" immediately clarifies that we're talking about a hose firefighters use to extinguish fires in buildings. Also, "my bad" is a newer expression. It's colloquial and not formal or "proper". People only use it among friends or in informal work environments, rarely does it slip out in more professional settings. "My bad" is, additionally, an expression used for less severe offenses. We've bifurcated our expression of apology by both the severity of offense and the formality of the environment. For instance, I would say "I'm sorry" if I was late to a date or a meeting, and I'd say "my bad" if I'm walking down a crowded hallway and briefly cut off someone trying to get through a door.

Ich bin ein auslander Rammstein fan. Ich bin ein Amerikaner. Sorry for my bad German. I want to see a video of yours analyzing "Fruhling In Paris". I was listening to that song over and over while I was vacationing in France and I just associate it with Paris. I understand it's supposed to involve a prostitute, but I also love the homage to Edith Piaf in the lyrics "Rien de rien. Non, je ne regret rien".
