It has that fizzy thing going like soda but without all that sugar. I like to put a little lemon juice and it's a lot healthier than pop.

When she refers to him as Mister Drake, instead of Herr Drake, is that because he's American? I know I've referred to Germans as Herr, or Frau, to acknowledge them being German without explicitly saying where they're from. Thanks for another fun video! Danke für ein weiteres lustiges video!

Yeah, I noticed that too. I guess it's a cliché thing to use "Mister" in the German dub, because usually, you'd say "Herr XY". Well spotted! Thanks for watching and sharing this!

I heard Electric Callboy on the radio today. Other than Rammstein and Tokio Hotel, I can't think of hearing any German popular music on the radio that doesn't date back to the 1980s (Kraftwerk, Nena, Scorpions, Peter Schilling). The USA is the best (meaning worst) place for tornadoes in the world, I believe. I have heard two tornado warnings where I live and I don't even live in a place that is particularly under threat of tornadoes.

What about when parking on a sidewalk? Should there be space for people walking? I find ridiculous that there’s usually no space and people have to walk on the street (?) risking getting run over.

1st, Thanks Dave! I haven't heard of this band before (sorry?) Gonna look up this song next. Also, I love these unique words; friss / fressen & laben & also old(er) German words / translations. That's half of the reason why I love subway to sally. Never gonna help me on my next time to Germany but still fun to learn about!

This applies to dropping the hard "C" sound just like Brits too. Such as "Denken"... zum Beispiel 😉

I've heard Germans drop the "T" as Brits do, but PLOT TWIST, when they speak their own language. Even Duolingo drops the T when saying things like "am Besten" 👀👀🤔🧐
@Daveinitely
@Daveinitely 12 күн бұрын
Technically, it's not the "t" that gets dropped, but the "e" in the suffix "en". That's typical for spoken German: am Besten (best) [ˈbɛstn̩]

I wonder if fair use policy would allow for distorting the actual sound from the song being translated and critiqued enough to make it illegible but keeping the melody (perhaps a simple low pass filter) so that as the translation is being spoken over the top the listener/learner still has an easy recognizable reference to the original piece of the song? This would help a lot with recall when re-listening to the song in the future.

"Woher kommen Sie?" Right there, he pronounces another phoneme between "Woher" and "kommen". And the same happened with the British passing off as a German at another part. What is that? It's like he pronounced: "Woher e kommen Sie?"

An awful man. Have no doubt that the British people never liked or took to him. We just put up with him as the husband of our Queen. He was rude and obnoxious. As some impoverished European royal he 'lucked out'. Couldn't care less about his linguistic skills. Neither was he a very good father. Just look at the tragedy he bestowed on the now King Charles! A nice sensitive boy sent off to some Scottish educational establishment tantamount to some kind of sadistic concentration camp.

Did you know that Queen Elizabeths Uncle and former King also was pretty fluent in German. The whole Family us actually from german descent, the House of Hannover (pretty wild story when the last Hannover was having a relation with Caroline from Monaco) - they changed their Name to Windsor in WW1 bc of the English hating everything german

I was most impressed with the game players using the character of "Winnetou", which is extremely well-known in Germany, but completely unknown in the USA. So an American writing a movie and using THAT character means he really did his research.
