Just found I failed the online assesment today. Told I could reapply in 3 months but don't see the point. I'm 33 in 4 moths. So by the time I can reapply again, if there's even vacancies, I'll be 33 before I even get to this stage of the application again. 70% of people pass this test and I failed. That's how shit I am at life

Ordinarily you will get an email from the force notifying you roughly sven days in advance of the seven day window for you to complete the exercises. So you may get for example, and email on the 1st, telling you the window for you to complete your exercises will open on the 8th, and that you have until the 15th to complete them. if its any help Justin, we have a course this weekend for £95 on sunday, and with us as always, if you are not happy by half way through with the quality of what you are getting, tell us, we will give you whatever you have paid back, and you owe us nothing. We shake hands as part as friends. You don't have to wait until you have failed before you can get a refund if you are not happy:).

'A woman complaining kids are playing football and disturbing her coronation street'....this is a symptom not of those kids being bored, they are happy playing football, the problem is with the woman that hates children, maybe she should be investigated! Does no one else think that is a problem? What a society we live in. Just because she's an adult doesn't make her right. Children should be allowed to play! Hi Liam, thanks for the comments. Re the interview, just check that what you are using as an example fits the behaviours for that area. And try and find examples that have a bit of meat on them. try and avoid ones that start of in effect "I was walking down the road one day and....) or "I was in work one day and...." as if it was a spontaneous event, you are limiting the skills you can display in your answer.

@talkingbluespolicerecruitm91344 жыл бұрын
Hi Allan. Few things here. Firstly, you are normally given a seven day window to complete all of the exercises. If you fail to complete all of them within the seven days then you fail and are considered to have withdrawn. You can start at any point in the seven days allocated. Once you do the SJT, the linkages expect you to do your stage 2 interview pretty much straight away. The links for stage 3a and 3b are separate and can be done on different days. But as i ay, all MUST be done within the seven days allocated.

Hi Jamie, you have the option during the recording of finishing early once you have said what you wanted to say. Hi Simba, I wonder here if you applied for a degree apprenticeship entry, for which you may need the points depending on force. You would need to have a look at the eligibility criteria again and see what they were for the scheme you applied for. You don't need UCAS points or A levels for many forces, although for some you do. It depends on the view of the Chief Constable.
@johnmctaggart97584 жыл бұрын
Hi Aran, the point here was that in my introduction I (subtly I admit) dropped in the fact that force policy was to PREVENT crime. The question in this case was to see if candidates recognised this point. If they do, they will realise that the aim of the action is to prevent the crime, NOT make an arrest afterwards (although in the real world that may of course happen)

In the situational judgement test you said arresting him was the wrong answer.... so are you saying both options of arresting him were incorrect even asking the staff at the shop to call the police and they arrest him would be incorrect? I mean common sense woild say its just a sandwich so you should be able to introduce yourself and explain why he should pay for that but because you didn't give the correct answer I just wanted to ensure im thinking along the right track? Or whether indeed he should be arrested but just not by you..

I was going to delete some of these comments, but on reflection they show what types of people the police service has to deal with. For example, when talking about sub normal people, may be worth while checking your spelling and grammar first. This of course would amount to a failing on the police IQ test.....

Hi I am due to do the last two exercises of the online assessment centre tomorrow. Are we allowed to make notes? For example, when I did my last search assessment centre last year, we could make notes. Whilst I know this wasn't online, I just want to know if we can as I find it useful to write all the competencies down so I can make sure I'm using them in my answers for the written exercise and the briefing?
@talkingbluespolicerecruitm91344 жыл бұрын
Hi Lily, you can make notes for the simple reason no one can stop you. In particular, for the written session, you may wish to order your thoughts in order to be able to respond, and the same is true with regards to the briefing exercise, albeit to a lesser extent. We suggest a format to use on our course but you can of course use your own. Additionally, for the interview questions, whilst I would not advise openly referring to notes in the interview, there are mind tools to help you remember what example you intend using. there are waysRegards Talking Blues

Hi there, if I were you I would just apply, as the time from doing the assessment to getting in could be a year anyway. The way things are, with the drive to recruit 20000 officers, then covid costing billions, suggesting an impending spending cut, then with public order potential, who knows when forces will open and close application dates.

I actually found this quite depressing, it's like reading 'Wasting More Police Time', too much focus on PC nonsense and not enough proper policing. As for the example of kids kicking a ball about annoying a householder, does anyone seriously believe that a copper has the time to do all that?! Fantasy. And look at all the job adverts on force (sorry, service) websites, the best paid jobs are always the unnecessary and nonsense jobs; at the moment Suffolk police are looking for a 'Positive Action Recruitment Supervisor', nearly £30,000 to "improve inclusion and diversity through strategic research & planning". Makes you weep really.

Just had an email saying " actually failed on the situational judgement test. We were given 4 answers and had to rate each response as rather "Counter productive" "Inefficient" "Efficient" and "Very Efficient". The answers seemed obvious, but I got a very low score. It was quite challenging, I even had the Competencies framework next to me!" (Apologies cannot seem to reply ). I can only agree how difficult it is. I had a friend who is a 22 year service Inspector who did the Avon and Somerset one a few years ago out of interest, and he only just passed it as well! It is to do with being able to look at the wider picture, and being able to tun off from natural instincts which sometimes are what makes a good police officer. bear in mind there are two types of way situational judgement tests can work. one is as this one was, where you "grade" responses to a situation as being effective, non effective etc. A more simplistic version just asks you to rate the four options as to which one is best. There is a lot of debate on our courses about potential courses of action! Regards John

Hi John, next week I'll be undertaking the online version of the SEARCH Assessment. I saw your comment and wanted to ask a question about what you think the grading would be on your example in your video. If it were a multiple choice question I feel I would be comfortable answering what I think would be best, but reading the email you have copied above makes me nervous! I would think the grading of your example to be A-Counter Productive, B-Inefficiant, C-Efficient, and D-Very Efficient. What do you think about this? Thank you for your help and your video. Charlotte
@talkingbluespolicerecruitm91344 жыл бұрын
@@KittyPingo Hi Charlotte, the plan is to aply the CVF separately to each action. So for example. If you let the thief leave the shop and then call the police, looking at the values, have you taken responsibility? 9I think you wuld have just handed the problem to the thief). have you shown you are prepared to act ethically? 9Possibly not). I would suggest that asking the person to pay for the goods is highly efficient. letting the police deal after they have left is highly INefficient. and so on. The key is to know the CVF.
