I will be performing the in the orchestral accompaniment for this piece in a couple weeks - I'm principal second violin, and the music is pretty fun to play. The person performing as the soloist is a teenager. He's REALLY good!! I'm no clarinetist, but I can tell that the solo part is pretty tricky. He plays it like cake. :-)

@shaylenmusic thats not the doubt i had back then.. i know how transposing instruments work, i have played trumpet and horn. The question was all because i didnt knew the clarinet overblows in 12th. so, the second register actually calls a D the same position of a D on sax and flute. but on the low register it is a G. But the point is, if the chalumeu register is actually in Eb, and the clarion in Bb, why isnt the clarinet named after the fundamental register's tuning? that was the question

This sounds amazing, absolutely no lie<3 I'm going to try and see if I can get the sheet music so I can play it in my concert band class. C:

@vandorenspaz There is no horns in this orchestra, a shame because the (orchestral) interpretation is nice. The clarinetist did well, btw!

@frenchy64 yeah but as i have said: my flute is tuned in C and the lowest note is a C the same position that makes a D on my flute sounds like a G on clarinet (and i mean real G, which clarinet players would call an A). the same for C on flute, makes a F on clarinet there are flutes tuned in C with a low B extention, so why isnt the clarinet called "clarinet tuned in F with Eb extention"? i just cant get that.. the scale on the clarinet starts on the middle of the instrument, not on the low note
@frenchy6414 жыл бұрын
@ericoschmitt The Bb is called Bb because it is a tone below concert pitch. ie. play a C, sounds a Bb.
@ericoschmitt14 жыл бұрын
i think ive asked something stupid, i searched wikipedia and i found that the common Bb clarinet goes down to a Eb.. so why is it called Bb and not Eb then?? my flute is tuned in C and the lowest note is a C and not an F....
@ericoschmitt14 жыл бұрын
what kind of clarinet is used to play it? ive tried on my flute, but i need an Eb (and my flute goes down to C only) is it an Eb clarinet? that also means common Bb clarinets cant play this piece.... on my flute i have to tune one octave higher almost all the passages.....

I admit that I knew little about Weber when I found his piano piece 'Invitation to the Waltz' in a book of popular piano pieces at home. I'm now beginning to appreciate what a truly influential composer he really was. This piece is incredible!

agreed! I love that horn part!! looks like they dont have a horn in this ensemble though... :(

??? Ahh! Where's the horn at 8:00??? Maybe this is just a version I haven't heard before, but every other that I've heard has the most amazing horn part right there! It's my favorite part of the piece. :( Hey, I like this guy's tone. Last note, yes, was a little "ewwy," but overall, a very nice performance! I like acoustics of the area it was played in, too. :)

ooh, very pretty. he could have improved his dynamic expression, and his tone may have been too coppery. and yes, some technical stuff, but aside from that, a really great performance! me encanta.

I love this piece. It is my audition piece for IUP Honors. I am really excited to play it. It is played very well here. And to that one person who thinks he is trying too hard-thumbs down. If you actually feel the music, you are going to be moving around. I bet he didn't even notice he was swaying until he watched the video. 5 stars.
