Hi Manoj, I am using the Leofoto Ln-364C Tripod amzn.to/3zBkr0P with a Manfrotto 502Ah Video Head. I have been quite happy with the setup. It's a good value setup imo. Not cheap but certainly not the most expensive either.

You’re taking a huge number of shots, maybe couple thousand or more. What software do you use quickly to preview and delete the ones you obviously don’t want?
@raincoastphoto
@raincoastphoto 6 күн бұрын
Hi Guermeister, I use Lightroom Classic for all my cataloguing and culling. With shoots like this you can delete in big batches, anything a bit further away is an easy cull, and this is definitely not a typical shoot but I have got it down to a reasonably efficient process, that I will be taking a look at in future videos

Hi. I'm new to the Z8 but did lots of research. FYI for the CF Express card, you should have gotten the Delkin Power Gen 4 in the 1TB size - it runs materially faster and cooler than any of the other sizes of the same item...
@raincoastphoto
@raincoastphoto 12 күн бұрын
Thanks Barry, I got the Delkin thrown in with the camera and the 128 is actually a 256gb so got a good deal there. Good to know the larger cards run cooler. I mainly use a ProGrade Gold 512gb 3400mb/s and it has worked great for me. i get the hot card warning sometimes but has never shutdown because of it.

@@raincoastphoto I bought the Z8 because we're going on an expedition cruise to Svalbard next July and I needed a "real" camera. My last camera was a Canon F-1 that I bought new in 1974...LOL... The Z8 was bundled with the 24-120 F4 and I'm getting the 180-600 F5.6-6.3 when it comes back in stock. Your video series has been extremely helpful to a total newbie to digital equipment. This camera has so many options/settings it's quite overwhelming for a beginner. I figured I'd need a year of learning before the bucket list trip.

@@barryinny That's a great reason to buy a Z8 that's for sure. Glad the videos are helping it is such a complex camera, you definitely need as much time behind it as possible over the next year. Hi Stu, I just bought the smallrig cage for my Z8. But I found out the shutter release port is partially blocked by the cage. Do you know if there is a way around it? Shutter release is essential in low light photography

I currently don't have a 10 pin connector to try, but looking on dpreview they appear to work. It looks like a tight fit so I wonder if my your cage is not quite fit properly slightly askew? I use the 2 sec timer or my iphone through snapbridge as a work around atm but not ideal.

This Bank is pretty much setup for birds n flight going out the door, but the back dial adjusts shutter speed so like lately I have been shooting Osprey diving and all I have to do for a quick shutter speed change is give the rear dial a spin to 1/4000th and it is set with Auto Iso so good to go. I’ve had one for 3 years and love it. Like you said, it helps immensely with carrying my Z9 with either a 500mm PF or even my 400mm F2.8. It is very comfortable and easy to get at, and it frees up both hands for either binoculars or helping to steady yourself while hiking. I’m paranoid about dropping my camera so I also have a Blackrapid shoulder sling attached to the lens foot. It looks a little ungainly but it’s seamless once you get used to it.
@raincoastphoto
@raincoastphoto 25 күн бұрын
I think that 500pf is the perfect lens for this, good to hear its not bad with that 400 2.8 as well. Great idea on the black rapid strap can never be too careful.

not for me. It looks just so uncomfortable. The rule of thumb is that if a lens has a foot, use it to support the camera, otherwise the camera supports the lens. That's to reduce the stress on the mount ring. who knows? I think it's an urban legend, but I stick to it, Appreciate the review though.
@raincoastphoto
@raincoastphoto 26 күн бұрын
Thanks Patrick yeah it may not be for everybody. Good rule for sure. The lens is always supported by the strap The way i use it, I never walk without that, so far no issues. Cheees

This was extremely helpful, especially the g3 setting. One thing that might help others: go to your desired Shooting bank and set it (24, or 5x24 or whatever), then set your shutter speed (while in video mode), then go to g3 and lock shutter speed. Then repeat for your next Shooting bank, BUT, don't forget to unlock g3 before setting you desired shutter speed, then lock it again, especially if you are using the same Custom bank with different Shooting banks. Now when you toggle from Photo mode to video, it will revert back to the desired shutter speed as described here. I know this repeats some of the video, but I was confused by how to set the shutter speed before locking it (I was setting it while in photo mode), and I couldn't set it on another bank after I had already locked it. So hope these tips help others.

Hi, You've done some great videos on the Z8. I've just ordered my Nikon Z8 after watch you great Z8 videos., I'm a hybrid shooter. In Video mode, is it possible to Start/Stop Continous AF with the press of the rear AF Button, or half press the Shutter button to enable constant AF?
@raincoastphoto
@raincoastphoto Ай бұрын
Thanks Martin, so in video mode if you have af-f mode on it continuously tries to af, if you hold down the af-on button it will switch it af-s while the button is held down and go back to af--f when released. The other option from af-f is if you ever so slightly tough the manual focus ring it will switch the camera into manual mode and the af won't be reengaged until you hit the af-on button again.
