Imagine in real life you had this button and each time you pressed it, you have these visions of the PS2 video games flashing through your eyes. But in the outstide, you are just having electric shocks and people are looking at you, pretty concerned about you continuing electrocuting yourself.

That gameplay footage made everything look much more aliased and low-res than it actually was.

Was the film melting at the end part of the commercial's "hot" gimmick, or was it a genuine mishap from the film reel?
@agilityreanimatedgroup
@agilityreanimatedgroup 6 ай бұрын
I'm thinking they printed an interpositive dupe of that part to melt on purpose for the internegative (or composite OCN equivalent I guess) with the effect, before splicing the final shot with the rest of the OCNs in the final reel.

@RoloffDeleto 3 ай бұрын
Yes, it was a great little joke at the end. You can tell from the dirt in what should be an open hole from the molten film that it's not physically in the printed, but printed in so to say.

The graphics for the PlayStation 2 in Late-2000/Early-2001 really held up well in the video game world since CGI has become more advanced and accessible for studios and game developers to use ever since its usage in the 80s and 90s.

do you have any other theatrical ads for other video game consoles? like xbox, dreamcast, ps3, n64, etc.?

Hi, I do have more theatrical ads for some games, MechWarrior III (1999), Looney Tunes (1999), Perfect Dark for N64 (May 2000), Star Trek: Voyager - Elite Force (1999), Nintendo Metroid (2002), "Alone Cinema" which is an ad for The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask (2000), a PlayStation ad for World Will Know Jak (2003), "Slow Disarm" for the Namco game "Dead to Rights" (2003) and Atari's Hitman (2004), but all only on 35mm film, none of these digitised. I can't afford the costs to digitise these. I do have some very old Dutch Intellivision TV ads on a Betacam tape somewhere, which I can digitise.

Good question, apparently X-MEN premiered July 12th (2000) in New York. Other releases that summer that would fit the target audience were GONE IN SIXTY SECONDS, SCARY MOVIE, WHAT LIES BENEATH, SPACE COWBOYS, TITAN A.E. and THE PERFECT STORM I can't remember if I've seen this myself in the US back then, even though I did see some of the films mentioned then in the US. I purchased this spot through eBay in a batch with other Video Game ads in 2001.

I do have some more 'modern' ones from around the year 2000, but only on 35mm, not digitally. I do have some game related TV ads digitally (from the Netherlands) for Intellivision that I should post.

OK. Now you can upload a couple of Foundation for a Better Life PSAs in 35mm. The time that I remembered seen Foundation for a Better Life PSA entitled, "America the Beautiful" was shown before Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone at Edwards Cinemas Westminster 10 with my family back in November 2001.

I don't have any Foundation for a Better Life PSAs I believe. And you have to understand that scanning 35mm film in HD costs serious money, at least here in the Netherlands.
