I guess this question has been answered by season 7, which is exactly like season 1 except instead of Emma&Regina, it's a woman and a man, Henry&Jacinda who are brought together by their child, and suddenly it makes all the sense in the world that it's romantic and you're obviously supposed to ship them... I feel like there was so much pressure over Swan Queen they wrote Ruby and Dorothy together hoping they would quell the screams. I get it, at one point the writing was there for the idea of self acceptance but now that hook is back, Emma is obviously happy. As cool as I think Swan Queen would be it's just not realistic at this point in the show.

There should be a lgbt couple on the show. I'm not saying that this should be swanqueen (although I would like that), but there should be. This show is all about happy endings and true love, but when the show doesn't include this, the only thing I know is that gay people don't get their happy ending. Look at Mulan for example. Their should two people who are each other's true love of the same sex, because true love doesn't know gender. And the show should make that clear.

I think they are building up to something with regina and Emma and have been since the beginning. Whether it's romantic in nature or not, they are definitely cooking something up with the two of them. I just watched all 4 seasons in 2 weeks and it's one of the main things I noticed. To me at least, that emma and regina's scenes are key to something we have yet to find out. One being this season when Emma goes to regina's vault and tells her only she can really understand her and she was going to keep trying.

I don't think the awkwardness was the question itself but how to address it properly. I honestly don't ship SQ as a romantic couple, but I do ship them as best friends or close family. But yes I think it's just the struggle of how to address it without saying something that's gonna cause controversy but still tells the truth.

I think this put the actors in an awkward position because they don't want to offend the other "ships", however I am for SwanQueen, but I have to say that OutlawQueen is very interesting. I also think that Mulan/Aurora ship would have been nice, but that's what it's is all about in the fandom- we can take the characters anywhere we like and hope to have a few on board with us.
