I'm sorry for all this. Back in the 70s there was an amphibious plane very much like this one, but with a hovercraft landing skirt...I think used mainly in Alaska, and it never had any if the A5s issues. The more accidents I hear about, the more I stay away from all traffic areas; cars, boats and aircraft.

Short final? I fly a j3. Different world…😅

I did call it a little early, about a minute from touchdown. It gets tricky with a tight canyon and landings happening on 09 and departures going off of 27. I’m jealous you get to fly a j3!

Thank you for this video; even if I don't ever fly a small plane into Telluride (I live in a government apartment and ride a bicycle for most of my transportation), I'll still feel like I've almost done it! Thanks for the landscape video as well.

Keep digging Dipshit. When I look into the sky and I see twenty lines up there and they don't disappear, they are not cloud seeding. It's funny how you Morons think everyone is that Stupid.
@Ben-mk9ig4 күн бұрын
Cloud seeding is done by small airplanes flying either just below or inside existing rain clouds. It leaves *_no_* visible trail and has *_no_* relevance to the white trails seen high in the sky behind airliners. Those trails persist because the temperature is low enough, and the relative humidity is high enough such that the trails of water ice cannot sublimate back into water vapor. You might not be stupid nor a moron, but you sure are ignorant. The good news is that can be corrected by just a little education about meteorology. All it takes is the desire and courage to better yourself. Do you have what it takes? Well, do you, Terry?

Full mixture.????
@Sy_Pinkert6 күн бұрын
Nope. For takeoff since we are turbocharged we have to go full rich every time since the engines think we are at sea level. In regards to landing, the airport elevation is over 9,000 feet, so you would not want to go full rich in a normally aspirated airplane at that altitude. We are turbocharged and choose to follow Mike Busch's operating philosophy - full rich is only used for engine start and takeoff.

Accidents have gone down because most people can't afford to fly in GA. Less people less aircraft to get into an accident.

My eyes played a trick on me, too.... As you approach that last mountain top, that runway looks "thousands of feet below where it actually is" . I can certainly understand pilots being below designated glidepath. Wow... Just beautiful nonetheless.

It's a turbocharged 310R. Thank you for the comments on the panel, it was done by Gulf Coast Avionics.

@@Sy_Pinkert Yes, but that wasn't the point. You're landing technique has to be spot-on or you will most definitely end up eating a mountain slope.

I lived in Farmington, NM a few years ago. I was there for 5 years and I think it was the best place I've ever flown. I flirted with the idea of taking a C172 into KTEX a few times. Getting there wouldn't be a cake walk but it was doable. Getting out was where the larger concern was. It was also doable, depending on the time of year, but possibly not within my skillsets and highly likely not a good idea in the rental C172 that I flew. Nice video.
@Sy_Pinkert6 күн бұрын
Thank you! Getting in to TEX can definitely be easier than getting out, especially with high DA's in the summer time.

You'd think that having eaten up 2 miles of lawn without getting airborne, he'd have closed the throttle and had a rethink.. I have never understood pilots that do not use the manufacturers performance data to establish if they are likely to die..

1964 I received my Multi-engine rating in the T-50 N58599, Lee Sitton was my instructor and Tom Taylor FAA Inspector gave me my check ride. Bob Bell demostrated a spin in the T-50 to us. It was like flying a double breasted J-3 Cub! I even instructed in a T-50, I love the way the airplane flys. It is a piece of art!
