Very well done, if you have the right tools. Wish I can send you a painting of mine to fix. Must say, if that painting that you restored was mine, I would have dumped it 🤭🤭🤭

You sure put a lot of goop on that painting. Front and back. But I never saw you clean it. Did you actually varnish right over the dirt?

I love paintings from the 60s and 70s. They have a cool factor, you don’t see in today’s artists.

Thank you for sharing this master craft. Soundtrack "music" sounds like a youtube travelogue. Not appropriate or necessary.

The collages look wonderful, but when you film them through glass, the reflections take away drastically from the work of art.

I understand, but this was originally hand carved in marble. And we have hand finished it...

enjoyed the video, but why the nft?
@johnjacobsstudio6 ай бұрын
The NFT is simply a method of authenticating the artwork and proving ownership of the artwork. Nobody can copy it or even steal it because of this! It represents a new use of the NFT. In fact we have effectively created a physical NFT - The chip connects to the NFT and is also embedded into the artwork! Making this a hybrid NFT/physical artwork!

Thank you. It’s wonderful to hear what it is you are actually using, and watch how it all comes together. Much appreciated. I get tired of restoration folks slapping solvents on, dabbing away with swabs, and hoarding the name of the materials they are using to make it all look like MAGIC. It’s NOT magic, it’s hard, careful, tedious work - with knowledge and experience to guide our hands. Thanks you for being a light in the darkness - it’s all about the art, and returning it to beauty once more. Well done you!

Narration or on-screen captions would have helped. Oh hello bells! Staples and tape?! Nope.

staples are temporary, tacks applied in the end, tape is to cover the lining material

What is it that you are applying to the painting?
@jilldavies7094 Жыл бұрын
Why on Earth do you think it appropriate to use staples on an old painting?
@johnjacobsstudio Жыл бұрын
Good question. But in fact I did use tacks. The staples were only temporary. In general I prefer staples as they do less damage and have greater strength to hold the tension, also we use stainless steel which last very long. But usually clients prefer we use tacks to be sympathetic to the painting, also we use copper tacks and antique hand-made tacks - and sometimes we even save the original tacks and re-use them to keep the painting as close to the original as possible

The lousy restoration fits the lousy quality of the painting. This guy is in NO way a trained restoration expert!

I love watching art restoration videos like this. Though for me, it would be more enjoyable if instead of music, you leave in the noises you make while working on the video. Such as paint scratches, hammering and all that restoration stuff. But that's just my preference. It's your video and you do what you think is best for it. Hope to see more videos from you!

Thanks Amiela! Yes we will probably try some of those in future also! Thanks for your support!

Instead of music, you should make a voiceover to tell us what it is you're doing as we watch you do it.

@Thetabc24 Жыл бұрын
You are going to get many opinions on the sound. Some want music, some want just the sounds while you are working (which can be difficult with many cuts and jumps in editing), some will want voice overs for the exact processes and thinking what you're doing, some will want subtitles of what's going on if you're aren't as proficient with scripts and microphones.
