I've never seen either of these flicks. Anything that starts with "the house on..." or "House" anything, I've never really considered turning my attention to. No idea why, they just never really drew me in. But great job breaking down the differences in the two. I always like the idea of discussing originals vs. their remade counter parts. This is becoming a recurring theme in this comment section. But I have another amusing anecdote from my childhood to share. My mom often spoke of this movie, and she said it was the most fucked up nasty thing she ever saw in her life. That certainly peaked my interest. But she told me that when she went to see it the theater, a woman stood up in the middle of the movie, screamed out "you people are all sick", and stormed out of the theater. When I went to see the remake, for whatever inconceivable reason, someone brought a slow adult with them to watch the movie. Every single time something nasty happened, the slow adult would stand up, clench their fists, and scream "no no no" at the top of their lungs. Their handler would remove them from the theater, and instead of doing the right thing and taking them home, they brought them back in in a few minutes. The process repeated itself for the entire movie. I just think it's really funny that these movies fucked with people so much, and that her and I both experienced an unhinged reaction from audience members during our respective screenings. I'll just say this. David Hess is so good at being a scumbag and I adore him. When I get more energy I'll tell ya a story about a woman who used to stalk me, who also dated David back in the day. She was quite the annoying piece of work. If you'll allow me to make a request, do a video on House by the Edge of the Park. It's pure Hess gold.

"Galaxy Of Terror" (1981) traumatized me also. I should have been reading The Bible and also doing farm work. My teen Autistic brain did not need that. I hate Zob Rombie and I hate Sid Haig.

Return of the living dead or reese Witherspoon's "freeway" both those 2 movies was nightmare fuel for me growing up 😂

From someone who helped to build those cheap sets for meals and bus fare, I'm glad to hear the film (under James Cameron's inspiration) still effects as the best "Alien" rip-off... especially considering James later wrote and directed "Aliens".

Oh yes! One of those movies I was way too young to see. Sneaking down into the living room to watch on cable. Movie was scary enough, but what was even more scary was worrying that my parents would wake up and catch me watching it. They didn't. Watching stupid Joannie from Happy Days get killed was so fun. The giant space maggot. Mr. Hand. Dude with the crystal Chinese stars. (it would be years before I knew who Sig was). I adore this movie.

I actually saw Frankenhooker in the movie theater back in the day. Tons of fun. Reanimator is an absolute classic. I didn’t get to see it in the theater cause I was too young, but thank God for blockbuster. Can’t really comment On the other films and the smash cut because my drug brain tends to forget things. But I am looking forward to the real video.
