So what happens when the drip edge is 2-3 inches wide and impossible to get the gutters behind that drip edge?

Just had Leaf Filter install gutters on my home without the micro mesh filters. I didn't need them since I don't have any trees around my home. Gutter installation was horrible. I have standing water in several areas. My 1200 sq ft. 2 bedroom home gutter system was $7000. Rip off. If I had gone with the micro filters it would have been $14000. Stay away from Leaf Filter! They suck!

Downspouts need to flare into a larger opening at the gutter, similar to heating duct/ floor register. Too often this is where debris plugs up the flow.

I understand the strong desire to avoid cleaning out the gutters, especially as our age sets in; however, these guards never work properly after a season or two. The gutters still fill up with the tiny pebble particles from the shingles sgedding them, and it piles up ruining the proper flow of water to the down-spouts. The added weight over time of that coarse sand adds weight. Now add large volumes of water from a rain deluge where water now fills the enitire gutter, all the way to the downspout, which only handles the water that is high enough to go over the sandbars that formed in the gutters. The weight can cause deformation in the gutter, as the contact points to your house fascia start to droop because they're too far apart. Pine needles manage to insert themselves in cracks, crevices, and in the mesh, or cutout slots, and they stick there very well, many standing up and catching more material. I cleaned my best friend's homes (several of them) over the years, and was always amazed at how much material gets past the "filter" that leafguards purport to stop. Just go with a properly installed gutter, forget the leaf guards, and suck it up on paying your local handy man to climb the ladder and scoop out the gutters by hand, to include the piles of roofing tile sand. That sand will continue to fill the drains for the next two decades. You'll be happier in the end. Think of it as house maintenance, just like a car needs it's own maintenance. Good luck.

I love this stuff , I replace usually 5 yrs. I just got off my roof , I noticed a weed growing in one bc of 5 - 6 yrs of breakdown as a medium. So I will replace, approximately $100 for my roof. My downspouts never ever clog and I have monster redwoods all around.

Please just pay someone to clean out gutters as needed. All of the gutter guards have problems, especially with certain type trees nearby. Maple, sweet gum(worst due spiked seed balls), oak, pine trees, sycamore, are examples.

The main issue on my 50 ft 2nd story back gutter is that they need regular cleaning, and I am too old and afraid of heights to do it myself. At $190 visit,I would like something that would cut down on visits from my gutter cleaner company. Since clogging is due to mature elms, which drop 1/4 in seeds that turn to porridge when wet, I have been considering one of those wide mouth eavestrough outlets for my gutter. Would that enable water to drain better down my downspouts when the gutters get full of seeds?

In some older videos you installed gutter edge that snapped in place and then you fasten with some screws. This appears to be a different product. Why did you switch you said better, or just more economical / easier to install? I assume both of them just work by providing a drip edge. Is that correct?

Had LeafFilter installed on my last house. Burning the money for heat would have served me better. What a terrible product. The certified installer went awol when he saw the direction our install was going to go. He recommended modifications that I paid for that failed as well.

Don’t go with Leaf Filter, and I’m here to say why. I had them installed on my back patio gutter, only, and it was $3,000. That was a year ago this past March, and the gutter is already clogged. So I called them to have someone sent here to fix that. They said it would cost me $97, because my one year warranty was up. So much for their so called “Lifetime No Clogs Guarantee” 😑

Just like the gutter guard. The only thing it does fills the gutter quicker. In the winter the gutter guard forces the ice overflow into the facia and into the wall. Completely a scram.

I got new seamless wide gutters along with the leaf filter system. They installed both. I live under an oak tree which covers the roof. I would have to take bags of leaves and debris out every year but not anymore!!. These have been a God send to me. Yes, I have to sweep them once a year but so what. I would do it again in a heartbeat. I haggled the price in half. Just do it. Whatever the quote cut it in half. Worked for me. I'm very happy with this system.

It’s aluminum. It’s gonna last. Home Depot gutters are thinner. And lighter weight. If you put enough hidden brackets up, they will be just fine. They’re just gutters. Any gutter will do. If you seal them up correctly and mount them correctly. Professionally installed gutters will be seamless. Yes. But at what cost? Do you have to decide if one or two seems is worth it. They come at 10 feet sections at Lowe’s and Home Depot. I only had to splice one together. Installation was fun and easy. And I saved a ton of money.

I installed micro-mesh stainless steel gutter guards that do not have the aluminum plate behind the mesh like leaf filters. They don’t seem to stop up; however, the builder apparently put some short 90 degree sections of leaf filters at the bottom of roof valleys. Those sections stopped up and caused leaks and fascia/soffit rot.
