The 462 is the same as our 432 so unfortunately it has Permanent memory that potentially causes more issues.

Hi The 401 is just another name for the 402 in a different region.. same cartridge just with different country codes

Thanks for the feedback, Interval memory is the better of the two , the permanent memory is the bad one that leads to less choice and more rejections. Interval is not a huge problem because if a cartridge rejects you can always use it again after installing another cartridge first and then re install the one that was rejected and it will work. HP and Epson are also playing these anticompetitive games with their chips. HP being the most active with updates and trying to stop use of anything other than their own brand

LC 404 is from the North American region and is an interval memory printer. Interval is less problematic because it only remembers the last cartridge chip type , not every chip it has every had. Thanks James

The main thing is depending on the cartridge model used. The chip is the key not the tank itself. on all printers you can not use the same chip code twice in a row and some models ( indicated in the video ) can never have that chip code ever again. eg ,A, B, C, D, E , Always needs a new chip code each time. The other one can alternate eg A, B, A, B, A, B

Hold onto your printer as long as possible. You are lucky because your printer does not suffer from firmware upgrades that block your choice to save money and use aftermarket cartridges. Newer models all have this issue where the firmware blocks the chips on the cartridges . Your printer does not have a turn off function because it does not suffer from these upgrades. The ability to turn off the upgrades is only there on new er printers so customers can't take action against being blocked.

Sounds like the printer has had enough if the carts worked in another printer. Just check the printer pins that make contact with the chips

Hi unless I am mistaken, your Epson 1410 uses the Epson 81N series cartridges. If so that series is not effected by the current firmware updates that Epson is doing to newer printers. This means the problem is something else. If you are getting an X on all the cartridges it may just be one cartridge chip has an issue and the printer then can't do the piezo check on the set as a full group. It could be the pins in the printer not making good contact but more likely just one cartridge chip has been over written to zero or is dead. take all the carts out and install just 1. then if the printer accepts it then install another one. trying to isolate which one is a bad chip.

Thank so much for the info will give it a try, however I did install a partially used genuine Epson 81N and that wasn’t recognised by the 1410 but recognised by the Artisan 730 which I also have. But thank you for your help.

It could just be 1 cartridge chip that is not reading full that throws off all the others or it could be the printer pins or a board in the printer. most likely just a chip on one of the cartridges @@ericbudworth5895

Both of the new series, LC-432 and LC-436 use PIGMENT Based ink. for ALL four cartridges not just the black . Some compatibles will use a dye based ink instead because it is cheaper and easier to match the colour ( develop ) Good quality compatibles will use Pigment ink like the original brand

Thanks for the feedback, Brother seem to be increasing the complexity of their chips with every new launch making it harder for people to keep up and track/ remember all the changes across different models. If you can track it then you have an advantage over others that don't track it.

If the firmware is already updated. You can not down grade . However we already have new chips available that are 100% compatible with the latest update. All our stock in the warehouse and in stores is or can be upgraded to the new chip.
