The Ratcheting sound may not mean much now. But if you where walking the street of a Spanish town, back in the 1800's, after dark, and you heard that sound. Yeah, things where about to get messy. I have heard and read that many times, as a knife collector.

Could be something that i did, maybe cut a piece of the video out because of an error or something like that. Thanks for letting me know, I can see if I can fix it, after this hellish weekend is over. Honestly my tech skills are very limited and these videos are quite old, I am not a tech guy nor do I pretend to be. I’m a knife, gun, and primitive skills guy. Steel, stone and bone are what I’m good at. I’m so busy staying afloat that it’s been almost impossible to find time to make the videos I have planned, and there are many. Trying to not be homeless next month is my focus at the moment. I’m really grateful that you’re watching my videos, that’s a passion for me. I wish i could make it pay money and make better content. Have a great weekend and thanks for letting me know about the problem.

Regular nickels do not have silver. If anything, the nickels from 1942 - 1945 only had 35% silver. The nickels from 1941 and older and 1946 - present have no silver.

I have a Rough Rider version of that same blade and handle design , paid $45 or so for it ,440 ss so the steel is not as good but it will cut and do the business that a Bowie Knife and Large Blade needs to do. Good Blade Ruger Cat , I would not consider it a martial blade especially with out a guard but in a pinch it's better then a rock. 💰👣👣🎭👣👣💰

I’m sure you know how it feels. I have many ideas and I’m working on a few currently. My wife knows TONS more about all this tech stuff and it’s a blessing. Take care and it’s good to hear from you!

Never seen anyone baton in Scandinavia ever,we use axes for that kind of job.You know ,right tool for the job,we have strong axe traditions here. And usally we have a axe with us in the woods, camping, fishing, hunting or bushcrafting as they say nowdays;-) So we use knives for knife work,so most people like light, handy and sharp knives. Me peronally like everything, knives, big knives, machetes, axes and all kind of saws, from folding saws to bow saws.

One,Yes, it is made in India, by Windlass steel, a well known maker of knives and swords, they in turn are under contract to Cold Steel to make this knife. Two, in many states sharpening the false edge or swedge is illegal, check your local laws. Three, if you want it sharpened, do it yourself. I will be receiving mine tomorrow. My biggest beef with this knife is the blue paint Cold Steel uses on it. And yes, it is paint. There are video's on KZbin showing people removing said paint. Interesting note. Jim Bowie was not a big man, and he used the knife quite effectively. The Bowie is not a finesse type of fighting knife, its a hack and slash, so let the weight work for you. P.S. If you pulled that knife on some one coming at you, more then likely they out turn around and run away.

Nice collection of nordic knives. Are you sure about the construction of those buttplate Marttiini and the leuku's? Many times the buttplate is just to hide the tang construction and it is just for cosmetics. I have a old marttiini leuku and the buttplate has come off, but it is a narrowing tang all right to the end. I clued the buttplate back on. I think it is wrong to call it rat tang because they are usually kind of tapering tangs. The leuku's are Sámi people knives so vikings wouldnt have used them. They are and have been north dwellers in the Finland, Sweden, Norway and Kola Russia usually more darker complex than nordic people. You can see the Sámi flag colors in the Knivsmed Strømeng leuku sheath.
