Not Chinese. Filipino. Most of the traditional music in this part of the world, from Japan and Mongolia, to Indonesia, the Philippines and Thailand, are composed in 2 types of pentatonic scale. The Philippines also has historic musical influence from the Western world due to the colonial history, so you'll find traditional music here is VERY diverse. from Hispanic sounding music in the central and northern lowland parts of Luzon and the Visayas, to native hegelung/faglong/kudyapi music in highland Mindanao and highland Luzon, to Islamized Tausug and Maranao bayok music in lowland Sulu and Mindanao, to the old gong ensembles of kulintang music, to the balalaika sounding Rondalla of the Visayas, to the tropical sounding bamboo orchestras, to a mix of all types everywhere.
