I think it just goes to show you how much effect CFB and Untapped have on the meta. They rated Aerie Auxiliary a 2.5 which dumbfounded me when I first saw it in my draft overlay -- I get that the set has a high power level but it just didn't make sense to me how it could possible be considered a below-average card when it does so much, and I'm glad that the data is starting to prove that right.

Any chance of a continuation for this series with paper magic on the uptick?

There's a couple issues for me putting the print run together. I usually lurked on people that bought booster boxes but nowadays everyone's buying the set booster boxes instead, and I don't know about your LGS but a lot of our draft packs are made in Japan or Belgium which uses a totally different system than US. I usually need ~120 packs to figure it out and I'm not getting there. If my SNC boosters are made in US, I'll get a video out. If you're still interested in studying the collation for the last few sets, check www.lethe.xyz/mtg/collation/ for updates. Their project usually has the common print run pretty early and they even get the uncommon print runs.

Just learned you’re still doing these! Where do you get your data on the print runs from?
@kyler1335 жыл бұрын
Do you draft on Arena? Does this also apply there?
@neverstreamer48755 жыл бұрын
How do you generate the common print run lists? Do you just gather the data yourself and build the list for each set?
@fooz29165 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it usually takes about 90-120 packs to get enough data

Thanks for the cool analysis as usual. Is this the first set that mtgo does not follow the physical print run, as I've previously noticed that mtgo does follow for the previous sets?
@fooz29166 жыл бұрын
I think the last set that MTGO followed the physical print run was Origins
@SlasheTG6 жыл бұрын
@@fooz2916 Huh... coincidentally I didn't have time for mtgo in the following sets, so I didn't notice. How great is the divergence though, or is it pretty similar?
@fooz29166 жыл бұрын
@@SlasheTG I am not 100% sure, but instead of A-B-(C1 or C2), it uses a A-B-C-D system where the number from each run varies very wildly! So it's there but not predictable and doesn't follow the same philosophy, for example in Dominaria you could get Eviscerate and Vicious Offering in the same pack even though the physical print runs are always designed so this type of decision between two removal spells of the same color never ever ever comes up.
@WakeUpUniverse666 жыл бұрын
Will you ever do Uncommon or Higher?
@fooz29166 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't know where to start with uncommons, for rare/mythic you can search up "uncut rare sheet" to see how they're organized, they usually use a sheet as a prize. Boosters are scrambled before packing so you can't find any pattern between the rares within a box.

How would you go about getting draft logs for the set?
@fooz29168 жыл бұрын
People can check the box in the option on MTGO to save draft logs, and then they could send them to me *nudge* *nudge*
@bnasri28 жыл бұрын
Nima S i would do that but for some reason my drafts aren't saving, could it be because they are league drafts?

I just found out that this existed... very interesting. I noticed you didn't do one for Eldritch Moon, are you planning on doing one for Kaladesh?
@fooz29168 жыл бұрын
Yep! Waaaaay easier to do without double-faced cards involved. If you have any suggestions on something you'd like thrown into the video, let me know. Teaser: Glassblower's Puzzleknot and Malfunction are cozy on the print run, that puzzleknot is a signal that someone upstream is probably in blue.

is it known or reasonably suspected that mtgo print runs follow the same method of generation as paper?
@fooz29168 жыл бұрын
+Ben Young For the last several sets, MTGO has reflected the same patterns in the print run, but the commons in your pack are scrambled when shown in the drafting UI. However if you have MTGO log your drafts in a txt file, you can open that file and see the commons ordered exactly as they are in paper. UW commons in front, B run in middle, BRG commons in back.

Very well explained. It would be nice to end with a quick summary of the practical uses (hacks) mentioned, just to let those really sink in.
