This course seems to work well for students in or around Weston (an affluent city in the Broward County school system) that went through the IMAC learning process/program privately. It also works for kids who have a like-minded group of other kids around. On the other hand, one parent told me her daughter withdrew and stayed in the regular GEM program because EMF felt isolating and a bit depressing. I suggest the school board create a policy or rule which explicitly allows (parent's choice) students who attain a 3.0 grade in math or better to take Pre-Algebra or the next level math online over the summer break starting after their 5th-grade year or within the last 9 weeks of their 5th-grade year. The math curriculum for honors math classes in person and online is pretty good. Merely allowing students to continue taking one math course while enjoying their summer vacation would enhance the learning process dramatically. I only wished parents were more actively involved in the math curriculum-setting process.
