100th like! Honestly, it's a crime that these old Time Team gems get so little attention... It saddens me how such timelessly high-qualoty content gets glossed over by so many people.

Good 1st episode. No sound for the last 4 minutes, though. Unfortunate.

I could listen to Robin all day, or all night as I often do when I can't sleep. His voice and lilt and enthusiasm for history is just so calming and interesting to me. I love his contributions to Time Team and after watching the show for years, I somehow found this interview with Guy, which I love. In Time Team, when the diggers would be in the swirl of a storm, cold, wet and miserable, they would switch the TV shot to Robin, in a lovely sweater, sitting at a cozy table and chair next to a fire and a window looking out to a lovely garden and Robin would explain the history of what was being uncovered. He was such a lovely gentleman. With a great voice conducive to inducing sleep.

I’ve never heard anyone describe “Roman” as similar to how we consider “American”, its a nice comparison to describe the vast amounts of different people who would consider themselves Roman!

This was from the pilot programme made to trial the show, before the series proper was launched. It was never broadcast, hence Channel 4 apparently never kept the tapes and all copies of the full programme had managed to disappear in the intervening years.

I don't know what it is. I've almost watched all time team episodes. But i still watch every night, because they put me at peace, all the seasons. They're laid back genius, and entertaining

I totally agree! I've been listening to Time Team as I go to sleep (and while I sleep,) every night for about five years now. 365 days per year for 5 years is 1825 days, times around 6 episodes throughout each night means I've probably added around 11k views to this playlist by myself in 5 years lmao. Wow.

I always enjoyed Time Team, sunday afternoons, while my nanna was sleeping I would be watching this with great interest. I like how in this pilot the jeep is green with the Time Team logo but after that they were blue. And here we see a young Tony Robinson with thick dark hair as well. It was definitely Time Team that got me to take an interest in archaeology, this I guess came after Time Signs.

Just been back to Ribchester after nearly 30 years!...its still beautiful, walked down the street past the now being re-renovated 'white bull' pub and got a picture in front of those infamous columns!...magic to see the kids playing in the river and around the old roman steam bath house, truly magical to imagine what has been before, we miss Time Team! 👏🏻🌟🇬🇧
