Sacconi found that all of the backs of Stradivarius violins he took apart produced F# and the top plate produced a D#. In baroque tuning that’s G and E - corresponding to the pitch of the two outer strings.

Where I live I would have to travel a very long way to pay someone 5 times the cost of what I paid for my bow. Just for them to put hair on it is $100. Thank you for sharing this

Ah Coochums from Liverpool. If you need a friend, I have made 25 violins! And I started out on an Ebay violin 30 years ago. I know time glies like my fingers on EVAH PIrAZZI Very posh strings. Meaduring the widths at the nut to then measurements and string placements. Notches, after cutting the bridge, which I hate the pegs you do are well fitted. Do you like those harp shaped violin tailpieces btw? I hope you are ok. I love you. We can play. Your violin sounds almost as good as mine. I am restoring again and bow making using Grandads tools. Welsh Morgan side. 😮😮😮 Now if anyone has any junk violas then let me have one for myself, to busk on. Please, I hate trying to sell violins bows. Ppl are skin flints so I am packing in and enjoying life. At last. Poor Cremona And poor me. Godbless us music makers xxx

I'm curious why you chose to only glue the crack on the front (vs removing the top and bracing it also from the inside)?

Thank you for the wonderful video. Can you help me? Teller 15E Adjuster Tailpiece Violin vs. Wittner Ultra Tailpiece Violin 4/4 BK vs. Wittner Tailpiece Violin 4/4. Isn’t it true that plastic sounds less better than ebony? What’s your choice here?

Hello Emil. As I say in the video, there are no rules in this matter. You will have to try en see what works better for your instrument and taste.

Thank you for sharing your work, but as an chemist who is trained in handling hazardous materials this is painful to watch. You should really really really wear a mask if you grind or saw ebony wood. That's not a joke. Think about your future grandchildren, they don't want you to die of cancer at the age of 60.

could you tell me more about your dry chamber. I have a violin ,I'm using alcohol varnish and a wont get it dry, for the nex coat of varnish
@maestrokimon2 ай бұрын
Hello Sylvain, This chamber is used to dry oil varnish. If your alcohol varnish doesn't dry, there is a problem with the rosins that you have used. Did you make it on your own?

I know of a new bide who wanted to do something for her husband, so she varnished his very old violin. He did not get mad. He explained why it was not a good idea to varnish a violin and then scrapped it off.

Hello. Love your videos. Where can I buy the thin Multiplex board in Australia. I have a French Vuillaume 'modele d apres' ' cello that has a base rib crack on both sides of endpin. They are about 3 inches in length. One side is by winning to get a raised side on crack. Also would I have to take of whole front to apply clamps or could I do it through endpin hole.

Are the bridges ever put at a slight angle to get the intonation correct across the strings ( the 5th)? Due to thickness differences of the strings in the guitarworld saddles are at a angle and sometimes shaped for the different strings . Electric guitars and basses have individual saddles in the bridges to set intonation , without setting that it would be quite noticable.

I have 4 violin bows. I never known every 6 months or depending how much it is used that bows need to be rehaired. I had mine loose. I haven'r played or checked my 2 violins and their bows for a 9 months now. I was shocked ro see 3 of them fell apart probably due to humid conditions where I live in mid Missouri US. I found you. I wanted to educate myself on what it takes to rehair a violin bow. What a craft and talent a person has to have rehairing bows. Amazing. Thank you for sharing your talent and craft.
