In my head canon it was Stannis's plan to destroy the loyalists individually but Robert took all the credit and decleared it his own victory

Did no one consider to just ask Rhaegar to overthrow is father? Like I get Robert… but he’s a lovedrunk madman. Why did everyone else flock to his side of “he stole my girlfriend 😢” When they possibly could have just asked Rhaegar to join them? That would have made way more sense, they all liked him. It was just Aerys that needed to be removed.

Still, quite baffled by the fact that Robert and Lyanna weren’t already married before the war happened. Robert’s younger brother is married. Lyanna has obviously flowered or she could not have gotten pregnant with “Jon” in the show.
@MR.Z19914 сағат бұрын
@linsy1971 she was 15 and Robert 18. Lyanna was still deemed too young to marry at that age. Also, neither one of Roberts' brothers was married. Stannis got married a couple of years after Robert wed Cersie, not befote.

Just to be clear, Lyanna was a Teenager ( while rhaegar was grown Ass adult with 2 children and kind Wife ). If you put it from Fairy tale perspective, I would like to imagine Lyanna thought herself as a heroine who let herself stolen away by Beautiful Prince, away from clutches of Whoring Brute Robert. Which came back to bite her later

in the books Winterfell is a behemoth of a castle with the inner wall being 30 meters (100 feet) which is an equivalent to a ten story building The highest walls of a castle irl are those of Malbork Castle in former Prussia being 29 meters (98 feet) at their highest point (most pictures shows only the 15 meter sections of the walls)

While politics was a part of it, there was fact that many renowned Knights refused to serve alongside the Kingslayer. Also Cersei had a tendency to get her appointments positions at court, Ser Preston Greenfield (a Westerlander Knight) got a position on Kingsguard instead of Ser Richard Horpe (Stormlander who would later go to serve as Stannis Baratheon's right hand during the Northern Campaign)
