great video and agreed video does not do it justice to how rocky and steep some sections are out there. we did outlaw ohv a couple weeks ago and probably glad we bypassed diamondback gulch this time (we were alone and it was late June weather - aka hot)

Howdy. I’m only seeing 3/2 for Dobinson. You got a kit number?
@donmodro
@donmodro 11 ай бұрын
The part numbers for the Dobinsons springs I used were C59-300 (front) and C59-599 (rear). Those get you a 2" front and a 1" rear lift.

I kmow about the 2" lift kit, but did you perform any body modifications to fit the 285/70/17 tires? any rubbing?

Perfect example of less is more. Love the whole setup! Mind sharing what your average MPG is after the lift and 285s?

I went with steel skids from C4 on the 4Runner.

Most people opt out of the factory TRD OR rims. I like the look of them. I have silver 2020 TRD ORP lifted with 285/70/17 Nitto Grappler tires with no wheel spacers. Its looks aggressive. Silver, grey, black and possibly white body color would look the best with these rims. Obviously the factory street tires don't look good on these rims at all. Seems everyone wants to get rid of these rims quick and get the TRD rims with off road tires like everyone has on all trim levels.

Agreed! The factory TRD OR wheels also have recesses that protect the valve stems, greatly reducing the possibility of accidentally shearing one off.

Could you do this trail with factory Off Road. No lift ect? Thanks great video.

As long as you're careful, yes. Just expect to touch skids in a few spots. I wouldn't want to try it on the factory Dunlops though.

Great scenery! What driving modes did you select to complete the trail?
@donmodro
@donmodro Жыл бұрын
Most of this trail was in 4 high, there were a few steeper spots where 4lo was appropriate. There was enough traction on the trail that Multi-Terrain Select, ATRAC, or the locker weren't needed.

Really enjoying your videos. FYI to people thinking of running this trail -the vast majority of people and all of the jeep tours and ATV rentals run it the opposite direction from this video (but there is no official direction of travel..). I live in the area and used to work for Sedona ATV and have been on these trails a bunch in SxS vehicles. I'm looking at getting a Tacoma TRD off-road with a lift just like yours, so it's cool to see what you're capable of on these same trails - many thanks! And yea, cameras don't do the roughness and steepness justice.

Yep. Not long after I moved to Sedona I decided to do a bit of wheeling. This ttail is no joke. Steep, ledgy in one or two places. Super fun in that "ooooh sh*t" sort of way we all know so well.

Nice vid. I ran this same trail a Couple years ago in my FJ40, back then the guy leading the run called it Greasy Spoon. Any dispersed camping available off this trail? Last time we camped off FR25. Thanks. I am in Prescott area.

You should have enough ground clearance, but if you're running the stock wheels and tires I would be worried about punctures/wheel scuffing.
