Tin Men (1987) is an overlooked gem that firmly belongs to the connoisseur category of films. Mind games give way to war games before morphing into an all out war with no holds barred. What are a few smashed Cadillacs, dented marriages and stolen wives between 'friends'? A witty, racy script augments the brilliance of Richard Dreyfuss and Danny De Vito. Both are rival aluminium siding salesmen (hence the name Tin Men), constantly on the prowl for suckers residing in posh neighbourhoods. Tin Men is "the stuff that dreams are made of," since no one would dare emulate it wide awake.

One thing that's lost on a lot of people is how Del's trunk represents his sorrow and grief. In a deleted version of this scene he tells Neal that after Marie died he couldn't stand being in the empty house so he packed up a trunk and has been living out of it for the last 8 years, "i haven't been home in years." and you'll notice when he carries it himself he struggles and lugs it around, but when Neal helps him the burden isn't so heavy or restricting anymore. Says a lot about how having a friend makes carrying our burdens much easier.

The first time I saw this, after Neal asked Del “I thought you were going home?” I so knew that Del’s response was going to be “I doin’t have a home”, but at the same time I was so hoping he wouldn’t say it.

This is such a weird trailer for this movie. Because robin Williams isn’t the main character in the movie Norton is. I guess at the time robin Williams was the biggest star in the cast but still a very misleading and awkward trailer

Intresting how they got Dorothy to be younger than she is in The Wizard Of Oz, yeah I know Judy Garland died 16 years before this, but she was 17 in 1939, in this Fairuza Balk who plays Dorothy was only 11 at the time this came out, could have used someone around the same age Judy was at the time The Wizard Of Oz was made. Oh well though they made it look as Dorothy got gradually younger
