The American public is ruining these pristine areas because they do not clean up their garbage. It's so bad some areas are being shut down. It's no longer desirable and are so over crowded. Lots of noise, dogs and disrespectful campers. 😢

Yes, unfortunately all it takes is a few. The most common problems we've encountered have been trash dumping on BLM land (and its not necessarily campers doing it) and then occasionally discourteous campers (loud, stirring up dust etc.) we all have to pitch in together and one way is to report it - (800) 637-9152 is the BLM 24/7 hotline number to report dumping etc. and then there is a great group at AZbackroads.com of retired folks who go out in groups and actually will clean up spots! I've contacted them a couple of times myself. 90% of campers and folks are very nice and take care of things - its the 10% who abuse it.

The driving on the mountains. This is what scares me to death. Being from Flat West KY I do not like mountains. Especially going down hill (or up because what goes up must come down... LOL) So what did you mean by engine braking? How do you keep from going too fast down these without wearing out your brakes? No one ever mentions this. I am glad you did because I have been curious #1 ) If you can pick routes that go around some areas of mountains --- I am all about some valleys #2 ) How to slow down or keep your speed even when going down. I just don't know if I can do it.
@HolidayForTwo42
@HolidayForTwo42 12 сағат бұрын
@@kimlittleton4943 Engine braking is basically the same as shifting down and using the lower gears to help slow your speed. My motorhome has a “tow-haul” switch that does it automatically for me when my speed starts to get too fast it will shift down for me to keep the speed in check (at least for the most part) if it’s a steep downhill grade (6-7% or more) I still have to apply breaks only occasionally but not continuously so the brakes don’t get too hot. If you’re in a car or pick up it’s usually no big deal, unless you’re pulling a trailer behind you or in a large vehicle (like a motor home) best thing to do is not be in a hurry! lol!

You may want to rethink suggesting Quartzsite. BLM is in the process of instituting an increase in fees for the LTVA. From $180 for long term stay to $600. The two week short term stay is increasing to a month but the fees are increasing from $40 to $200 for a month. BLM is also making sweeping changes all over the state of Arizona. Places that historically had no fee will have one instituted. May want to do a little research on it. As far as Quartzsite is concerned many of the people that stayed in the LTVA are planning to stay in the free areas because of the increase in fees. The entire situation is brewing up into a hot mess.

Thank you for the response and "Heads-Up" - I've been hearing this as well for the last week or two and I did contact the BLM Arizona and asked them about this since there is no information on line anywhere that mentions fee increases - this is a "proposal" that they BLM office is looking at at this time - trying to get feedback from the public and communities etc. as to future BLM improvements and fees etc. etc. - Nothing has been decided at this time! I suggest folks contact the BLM personally and give feedback on this. I've heard alot of other rumors as well, but again - they are just rumors (such as closing certain areas off to camping due to overuse and abuse of the area with trash left behind etc.) That is actually happened in a few places around Phoenix and Arizona, where State Trust land recreation areas were being abused by some folks (trashed out!). BLM land has a few issues with that as well. I think with everyone pitching in and speaking up about it - they will know better how most of us feel about rate increases. A small increase might be merited, but certainly not the $180 to $600 one mentioned. I wouldn't be surprised however, if it went from $180 up to $200 a year, since I've been noticing a lot of regular camping fees have increased nationwide. Since most folks who camp on BLM and State Trust land have fixed incomes - any rate increase will be hard felt.

it's a nice place but now it's taken over by the party crowd. I stayed here 3 nights last week (Sept 10-13, 2024) and it was HELL. Campers in B-3 were making so much noise, and were yelling and screaming between 5 and 6am. Constantly played w their car alarm. The last 2 nights there they began playing their sterero loud enough for me to hear it, even though our campsites were about 150 yards apart. They eventually brought a dog in - or did they have friends over? Not sure. Anyways every time the coyotes would start howling, the dog would start barking and it wouldn't shut up. IT SUCKED! I think part of the problem is that there is no longer a camp host. They used to have a campground host here, who was good, and would be patrolling the campground on a regular basis. Another person showed up the first night and blasted THEIR stereo from 9pm-12am, and then left, without paying for their site. If you want peace and quiet, this is probably no longer the place to do. Have a Plan B and a Plan C. I haven't been to Picacho Peak State Park's campground lately, but that could be an option. Not much wilderness out there between Marana and Tucson, and what there is, is in the midst of heavy smuggler's territory and are no longer safe. No staff on site at all except between Jan - Mar. That needs to change. BTW, right now H Loop is closed. So is C Loop.

Wow, this sounds like something that should be brought before Pima County P and R. 800 watts on silent mode?? Was the setup correct?
@HolidayForTwo42
@HolidayForTwo42 Ай бұрын
Yes, I discovered to my surprise that even though the AC180 is set to silent mode and a sudden demand is placed on it where you're pulling a large load, say 800 plus watts or more, then it will begin to pull more power in to compensate. Since I had it plugged into the EB70 via the regular AC cord, it started to pull more power than the EB70 could handle (anything over 800 watts and it shuts off automatically) So, if I want to use the EB70 as back up power supply, I have to use the DC Plug on the EB70 to the solar plug on the AC180 - I the n have all my solar power running into the EB70 (about 300 watts on a good day) This setup, so far - seems to work the best for me. If I plug the AC180 directly into the EB70 via the 110 outlet, it sometimes shuts off on me if I run something big like a microwave or coffee pot etc. I hope that makes sense - maybe I should set them up and make a video on that to show what happens when you do that...
@cafepuya
@cafepuya Ай бұрын
@@HolidayForTwo42 I think I got it, it’s like if you’re demanding decent wattage while charging in silent mode, because of the wattage you’re pulling, then it needs the fan on certain speed and then it wouldn’t be silent anymore.. maybe it changes charging mode by trying to refreshing itself. Thanks for the reply, little by little we’re learning to handle these things.
