Greatest escape was the first theatre movie I finally got to see as kid. Never forget how special it made me feel as a crippled kid in casts on both legs to be invited to his 6th b-day. Gene Kelly was a perfectionist we worked on dance numbers and takes till he got it right. The beauty and class of Gene's dancing can be viewed in the masterpiece 'Hello Dolly' which was directed by him. Donald O'Connor's style was more easy, cool and seamless. Mr. Kelly was the creator of dance so his mind was occupied with the total dance and how that form would eventually be seen in the eyes of moviegoers. For the 'Good Morning' number, they did nearly 18 takes, but retained the first try because Gene saw perfection in that take. Debbie Reynolds, in an interview, confirmed that she wasn't a dancer and was a bundle of nerves when she was selected for the female lead in 'Singing in the rain'. But our Debbie was a real trouper and put herself on the line to master all forms of acting, including dancing. Her graceful moves can be viewed in: Give a girl a break, I love Melvin, Hit the deck and The Unsinkable Molly Brown. My fave Debbie Reynolds movie still remains the enchanting Broadway play 'Mary, Mary' brought to the screen by Mervyn LeRoy, and supported by a brilliant cast that included Barry Nelson, Micheal Rennie, Diane McBain and Hiram Sherman.

Remember when I told you l wanted you to walk me down the aisle to meet Jesus? After one of the concerts we were talking and you said, "Let's go for a walk." I was so focused on whatever we were talking about that I didn't realize you had walked me down the aisle. That's what women really want Michael.
