Capacitors are used for filtering, it filters the high frequencies. It provides no amplification at all. It is also the wrong type of capacitor for this application. Click bait and disinformation Block this channel.

Bro, by putting the Capacitor in series with the speaker you literally created a high pass filter, doing the exact opposite of what you wanted.

It's not plugged into your phone, you're sending voltage through it probably from a battery to move it. This is garbage.

It looked like nonsense, and it is. This gets a "do not recommend" immediately.

Two issues: 1) this is a lowpass filter, it’s not increasing bass it is removing highs. 2) don’t use a polarized electrolytic cap like that, it might explode , use two with opposite polarity.

I have a proper subwoofer but my driver sends out what i consider too high of freqs through the subwoofer output.
@Krmpfpks2 ай бұрын
@@lowerweb8466there are many different solutions for your issues, the one shown in this video is not one of them. Is your subwoofer a dedicated woofer or part of a speaker? If it is a separate subwoofer your goals should be to be able to control volume and the cutoff frequency for your sub with knobs. You have to adjust it to your room, the speaker placement and the frequency response of your other speakers. Any frequencies that are played by your sub and the rest of your speakers can cancel each other out in some areas of the room and add up in other areas. So you need adjustment knobs to play around. I prefer to have a separate amp for the sub, which makes all of that a little easier and cleaner sounding but also a bit more expensive. Better find a KZbin video on how to build a crossover.

Wouldn't a capacitor in serial being high pass? You need an inductor for low pass (or put the capacitor in parallel). Also, while low pass alone can't improve bass, exciting the bass then high pass it might make it a bit easier for a speaker to produce bass. That's fake bass and can mess up with treble but it can sound better. Ideally the exciting should be done on a vacuum tube amplifier, but it's probably more common to use DSP for that nowadays I think.
@Krmpfpks2 ай бұрын
@@FlameRat_YehLon you are absolutely right, I thought he would at least mount it in parallel as he claims to increase bass. But checking more closely this is in series 🤦♂️ this will remove any bass. If you remove bass frequencies the speaker cannot play then that might improve the speaker’s sound a bit if the low frequencies are so loud they make the speaker distort.

Capacitors are actually bass blockers used on tweeters. Headphone jacks only put out about 1 watt or less. This video is a pointless scam and the uploader needs to go outside and touch grass.

tl;dr: don't do it. 6dB/oct highpass filter. you have no idea about acoustics. wrong type of capacitor, bipolar, will explode, catch fire or leak corrosive fluid. this is dangerous, will not improve sound.
@IndianaDipper1942 ай бұрын
THIS IS HOOEY, dont listen to this dumba$$ he doesnt know anything at all, the only thing putting that capacitor in is doing is acting as a low pass filter probably, if anything at all. IT IS DEFFINITLY NOT AN AMPLIFIER. and the cone moving at the end was becuase he was touching it to a 9v battery to make it move; im an acoustician and sound engineer of 30 years, we do this alot to find out which cable is ran to which speaker and to determine polarity(which side is positive/negative). it will make it move one way or the other and make a pop.

you have to wire it in paralell not series to increase bass
@TechnoHobo3032 ай бұрын
what, how ? the most you can make is a LPF, no bass boost.
@Tmanstomp1002 ай бұрын
@@TechnoHobo303 no apparently if you have the right type of capacitor wired in paralell it increases bass instead of decrease think like batteries. In paralele it increases capacity, in series it increases voltage. It’s not highly publicized I found it on a video by a channel called Alfred and there is more explaination in the comments. Hope someone makes a more professional video because if not I’m gonna post one soon. Just have to do more research.
