Some bloodlines haven't had fighting traits breed out of them but many have..The Amstaff at one time were the same breed but it's foundation stock came from the Staffordshire terrier from Britain.The Abpt is further removed from that stock. So yes many APBT's are family dog's.And are even being used as hunting dogs especially hog hunting.My ex father in law trains them for deer hunting.
