Anywhere to camp near Outerside? Summit looks rocky
@SummitandCamp7 күн бұрын
You’d get a small 1 man tent up there yes. If you want more room then Barrow would be OK. Also loads of room on Scar Crags and Sail.

Yes indeed. This was filmed in Jan 23 when there was lots of snow and it skied well. Last year the snow was poor and it was treacherous. I’m back there in 3 weeks. Looks great at the moment. Fingers crossed it stays that way !

@@SummitandCamp it hasn't really snowed since 11 Jan so mostly hard pack and artificial snow.. Not ideal but not too bad either! I'm around for one more week so praying the snow forecast for 28/29 Jan is correct, otherwise will consider daily Avoriaz visits.

Sharp Edge looks like Crib Goch. Is it more dangerous?
@SummitandCampАй бұрын
No not really. It’s similar but Crib Goch is much longer.
@leob6Ай бұрын
I just watched a video of someone scrambling Crib Goch - no that looks 10 times scarier, hair-raising stuff really, you gotta be kidding if you compare the two, they're in a different league!
@SummitandCampАй бұрын
I’ve done both. Many times. Have you ? I would say sharp edge in wet weather is worse. The rocks are really slippy. Indeed someone died on sharp edge only last week. While it’s very short compared to Crib Goch, afterwards the scramble up Foule crag to get into the summit can be treacherous. In dry weather Grib Goch is a bit more or a challenge but there’s really not much in it.
@Valery1400-r7uАй бұрын
@@SummitandCamp I've done Crig Goch in windy, but dry weather. I'd like to do Sharp Edge in dry weather.
@leob6Ай бұрын
@@SummitandCamp Grib Goch just LOOKS insanely scary, it's a very narrow crest with these huge drop-offs on both sides ... not saying that Sharp Edge is "easy" though - looking at both videos I'll gladly believe that the rocks at Sharp Edge will get more slippery in wet weather ... no way I'm doing either of them, to be honest - it was pure coincidence that I stumbled on your video ... keep up the nice work though!

I found this fairly easy. The exposure is not that bad because most of the time there's rock between you and the drop, a rock wall to your right and the scrambling is reasonably easy. There's a couple of places where you have to go near the edge, but that's it. I wouldn't want to go down it, though. Compared to Collie's Ledge in the Cuillins, it's a piece of cake (I bottled that one, I admit).

On the OS and Harvey maps its a un-named body of water but as its right next to an old quarry I suspect it was man made for the quarry. I would have thought that its still there as the maps are up to date. I must admit I didn't notice it when I was last on that path but it may be hidden from view.
