i believe that these were used as weights for many different purposes . they may have been worn but weights like these were used on atlatls ,and may have also been weights on netting for fish or wrapping string or making it ! thanks for the vid!

This is exactly how we cleaned catfish growing up with the exception that my grandmom had a hook on a tree. Hook em, score em, skin em - pass them on to her to behead and gut.

Hi Charles, The Faceted Stone beads appear to be Trade Bead banded Agates from Brazil imported then made into beads in Idar Oberstein ( Germany) beginning 1834, although the region had a long history of Stone cutting dating back to at least the 15th century. They produced many fine faceted and polished Agates, Carnelian, and Calcedony Stone Beads and Ornaments that made their way to many Trade areas including North America and Africa. Here is an article from Ornament Magazine with more information: www.ornamentmagazine.org/blog/idar-oberstein-volume-403

Great technique. And for all of you saying kill it first just shut the fuck up,youre probably just pussies that eat fish from the store and dont catch them. 99% of the time you clean a fish its still flopping cause you brought it home fresh. unless you put them on ice and freeze them to death, hit them on the head(yeah do that to a basket of 30 fish individually and then go back and clean them),or just let them sit in the open and suffocate before cleaning them. Either way it suffers just a bit. And either way its JUST A DAMN FISH. He kept it whole to not waste anything either.

This is a good reason why not to eat seafood. Most seafood is done alive. This catfish was skinned alive. I've heard that in places they do this regularly, you can hear the catfish screaming during the process. This is CRUEL AND UNUSUAL PUNISHMENT!
