question do you know if the 727 small block 727 and the big block 727 tail shafts are interchangeable ?
@snake_eyes_garageАй бұрын
Yes they are interchangeable. There are short and long for different applications though. (Yoshimoshi video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aJLFiWNvpbZ4oNU)

I hate to say it but you mounted it upside down. If you mounted the plate 180 degrees you would not have to drill it
@snake_eyes_garageАй бұрын
I just retested this and your comment is incorrect. If you watch the video I explain that the adapter was directly compatible with the lighter stand but not the heavier duty stand. If I had used the lighter duty stand (which would likely collapse under the weight of that block) the adapter would fit fine.

The console in the truck now came out of a ‘64 Polara. The original console (long gone) was much shorter.

The coolest looking intake of them all, but how much air does it flow? According to the Mopar book they top out at 600hp on a stock stroke Hemi. For strokers I reckon that's too low. If I'm building a 572 I want at least 700hp on the street orherwise I might as well build a significantly cheaper Max Wedge stroker clone for 600hp.
@snake_eyes_garage7 ай бұрын
I agree. If you're building a large stroker and are wanting upper-rpm horsepower, then you really want a tunnel ram for the large and simple runners. A blower will help with air volume as well. And yes, the Hemi will break your wallet.
@WolfmanJack-ol2rl11 ай бұрын
you should have changed the rear bearing also because if the rear old housing has play . the old bearing will have wear also and will wear out the new housing quicker always replace old bearing with new when replacing housing if you plan on keeping car / truck
@snake_eyes_garage11 ай бұрын
I agree yes. I've put maybe 500 miles on this truck since this video and have no noticeable affect. But normally I replace bearings/bushings at the same time.

These are some of the most enjoyable trucks to restore. Not many affordable trucks around.

Seems like the early 'shop truck' market has cooled off some and there are good ones out there. Later model trucks seem to be popular at the moment, but for me it would feel weird to 'restore' a 90s model.

Wow Tom - that is an awesome memory! You can find my contact info in the About… I’ve been selling off my extra hemi parts as I’m needing to scrape up funds for my truck build. I will be up in Georgia-SC-NC for power tour whether or not my truck is ready. On the parts I’m not making any money just asking what I bought the parts for. Anyways, look in my about and there should be a contact email to click on.

@@snake_eyes_garage the 90s vintage cross ram has 2 plenums with a joining port to balance pressures. Type your box pn into a search engine and you'll get plenty of pics. There's 2 lids one for each side. Type in 426 hemi nascar bathtub intake and you'll see what you have there. those single 4 intakes, or we all just call it the crate engine intake, because the crate hemis came with those. they were freaking awful as well, if you can ever get your hands on a holley style marine intake, that's the one to use. it looks identical to tye original dual quad aluminum intake you showed, but the carbs are spacers further apart to fit Holleys.

I think the pad at the rear with MTL is on all of the manifolds, early ones at any rate, I’ve always found it odd that there isn’t any casting date to be found, everything else has one. The early 66 intakes had the same DPCD designation, but the earliest cars utilized six extra fasteners, 3 front and 3 rear, and there was a vertical hole drilled between the heat pipe holes, centre of the rear, to access one of those screws.
