Well this lap was far from nice, but Thanks 🙂. I have the Verus large oil pan prototype installed. I think it is v2. The v1 was the one used by @900BRZ. I don't think they have a v3 now.

Wow, oil staying around 230 is impressive. What were the ambient temps? I was seeing 260F at the end of 15-20 minute session at road Atlanta this weekend. Running 5w-40 so not super worried but am jealous of your temps! No oil cooler?

Any comments/observations on the oil temps? Did the oil pan affect them in a significant manner?
@nostreetracing862 ай бұрын
@@sikrip Oil temp wise, I didn't see an abnormal rise of temp on track compared to my previous SYMS pan (which is based on an OEM pan). On the street stop and go traffic the temperature seems to be about 10F higher in 80F ambient. When the car is moving, the temperature seems to be similar to my previous pan.

That does not look fun to drive. 😮 At least not for my old hands and inability to get more than 3 hours of sleep the night before a track day. 😅 I gave up on the 19mm rear bar and 400f/450r (7k/8k ish) spring rates. Just could not get the car to feel right. I went back to 450f/550r (8k/10k ish) and the car was immediately much happier. Not entirely sure why, but the rear does seem to stay in sync with the front over bumps better, which actually makes it ride smoother than the previous softer setup. I don't know if the shocks also play a role in that (I'm on MCS 2WNR). I now have my Perrin 22mm front bar full soft and am back on the stock 14mm (BRZ) rear bar. The car still has a bit of push, but can be rotated well with the brakes on entry, and will oversteer in power in third. Your stock 15mm rear bar, possibly on the outer holes on the LCA, would probably be even better. I'm up around -4.0 camber in front and running stickier tires, tho. So maybe not applicable. 🫤
@nostreetracing862 ай бұрын
Yeah, I feel the rear is really unstable. And with an unfamiliar track layout like this, it punishing me from finding the limits. My front 22mm bar was set to soft and rear 19mm bar was in the middle. But except for the balancing issue, the shock I use also doesn't like the bumps and curbs at BW. The car frequently upset itself over large curbs, to the point that I might switch back to OEM suspension for the next event. I tried my friends car which has MCS 2 ways without remote reservoir. It handles the bumps and curbs much better my 1 way annex. I might switch to MCS next year.
@grippgoat2 ай бұрын
@@nostreetracing86 I want to upgrade to remote reservoirs. But they're a bit of a way down my priority list. 😅 I tried moving my rear endlinks from the middle to outer hole on my rear arms yesterday, and it was a good improvement. The car rotated better in the slower corners, keeping a higher min speed and getting back on throttle sooner. I think I still want a bit more, though. But I think I'm probably done for the year. We're really getting into the rainy season in the PNW. I think if you set your front bar full stiff, and rear bar full soft on the inner hole on the control arms (if you have enough endlink articulation), it might bring you into a more manageable window. If you're still camber challenged, that extra front roll stiffness would probably be good, too. As a hail mary, you could even try swapping front and rear springs. What spring inner diameter do the Annex coilovers use?
@nostreetracing862 ай бұрын
@@grippgoat I gave up on Annex stuff. I think their damper profile (curve) just don't meet my need. They are single adjustable and only for the rebound. My opinion (which may not be correct) is that it has too little low speed compressing damping and a bit too much compression damping. And since that is not adjustable, the car doesn't react happily on bumpy tracks or high curbs. The balance can be adjusted using sway bars, but not damping. I cannot do much about it unless I opt for a revalve. I am switching to Bilstein B6 and aiming for a 0pt suspension mod under current rule book. In this case, I can use the extra mod pt for something else. I measured the coilovers, the outside diameter of the spring is 82mm. I cannot measure the inner diameter since I haven't take out the spring. The shock diameter is 52mm.

What was it like going from GT86 to GR86? I’m sure it happened a while ago I just found your channel and was curious what you thought:)
@nostreetracing865 ай бұрын
My GT86 was a 2013 model year FR-S, by the time I put it on track the rear shock was already leaking. After that I have put some aftermarket coilovers and later PPBRZ shocks. With PPBRZ shocks, the GT86 actually handles a bit better than stock GR86. Better entry at turns and exit is more stable. The GT86 also has a linear throttle response while GR86's stock throttle tune feels more like a ON/OFF switch (40% pedal will cause the actual throttle open to 80%). The GR86 has more torque so it is faster on the track. But overall, my GT86 gave me more smells on my face.

How do you like the Annex Coilover?
@nostreetracing865 ай бұрын
I would say it works mostly OK as a 1-way coilovers. But it has limitations. Also the one I received is a inverted design prototype. The shock's stoke is a bit shorter than regular version, I think that limits its performance a bit at bumpy track like BW.

@@nostreetracing86 1qrt overfill is what most guys are doing now. Do you worry about sloshing or no? I drive my car to and from the track so I question overfilling 1qrt. Right now I overfill 1/2qrt.
@nostreetracing865 ай бұрын
@@autosenses2960 In my case I am not too worried. I recently installed a catch can and it doesn't seem to catch a lot of oil per track day (a few mL for Laguna + to and from the track). I also don't daily my GR86. But we do see people with 1qt overfill burns oil at start up some times so I would not say it is completely safe. Another way is to overfill the oil at track and use a tool to extract excessive oil from dip stick port when you need to go home. It is a bit hassle but may worth doing.
@autosenses29605 ай бұрын
@@nostreetracing86 Yeah that’s also a great option. I don’t daily my GR either. But I do like to drive it on weekends in the AM. I overfill 1/2 qrt. Just a bit passed the max line on the dipstick.
